The Perils of Kat McPhee

I mentioned yesterday that fans were reporting from the Charlotte NC show that Katharine McPhee was limping during the encore.  Here is a article from People.com that explains what happened:

The Idol runner-up, 22, was injured Tuesday night when she tripped backstage before a concert at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the New York Post reports.

McPhee went on with the show, singing two songs while wearing slippers. X-rays taken at a hospital afterward revealed a hairline fracture in her left foot, the Post says.

In spite of the injury, McPhee will stay on the “Idols Live” tour. “She’s in discomfort, but she’s fine,” said Roger Widynowski, a rep for McPhee’s record label, RCA. “She will continue on the tour and is not defaulting.”

Last year, Bo Bice performed with a broken foot, but finally had to leave the tour after he had emergency surgery for an intestinal problem.  Season 3′s runner-up Diana DeGarmo also hurt her foot at some point during the tour.  Dun dun DUNNN…  Is it the curse of the 2nd place finisher?  Just kidding.

Some Ex-Idol news

My big plans to feature ex-idols on the blog this summer kinda fizzled out.  Sawry.  Here’s something though: Constantine Maroulis just started a 2 week tour on Tuesday in Richmond VA.  He’s got a couple of songs up on his MySpace.  The songs are…eclectic.  And I’ll just leave it at that.  Also, Constantine has just launched his new website.

I mention the tour, because I plan to attend his show at the Paradise club in Boston on August 12.  I’ll comeback with a report, and hopefully some media.  Yay.
