Taylor Hicks CD Release…Delayed

Taylor Hicks CD Release…Delayed

Just like Katharine McPhee and Fantasia Barrino who recently had their CD release dates moved up, Taylor Hicks debut CD is now set to be released December 12, rather than December 5.  In an audio message posted on Gray Charles.com, a few days ago, Taylor said that he was done recording the vocals, and that the record would be going into “the mixing stage”.  According to Gray Charles, Taylor is upbeat and happy to have another week to get things just right.

For those of you needing a Taylor fix right now, check out Rehearsals.com.  They just put up a new, quite excellent video of Taylor performing Georgia.  This performance of “Georgia”, compared to an earlier version from Taylor’s indie album “In Your Time” (which has reached legendary status amongst the Soul Patrol at this point) is more laid-back, but still beautiful, soulful. Definitely worth checking out.

Also, Taylor recently did an AOL AIM chat.  Read it here.  Read it and weep, actually–’cause in the chat, he mentions songwriters who penned tunes for the upcoming album and one of them is none other than pop schlockmeister Diane Warren.  Gulp.  She manages to get her mitts on all the Idol’s debut albums. And her contributions–well, they mostly suck, to put it bluntly.  I’ll just try to remember all the times I second-guessed Taylor on the show, only to be shown that his instincts were right on the money.  Hopefully, this Diane Warren tune is one of those times…
