X Factor UK – Top 7 – Performance

Double Elimination tomorrow! Plus, Justin Bieber and Nicole Scherzinger.

Tonight’s best performance was Matt Cardle singing “Nights in White Satin” with is guitar.  Did not dig his first song at all.  The judges raved about Rebecca Ferguson doing a Motown turn on “Satisfaction”, but I don’t think she brought the attitude or energy to a great arrangement.

Will Wagner and Katie finally go home this week? Hm. We’ll see tomorrow.

Videos and Live Blog after the JUMP…

It’s Rock Week on X Factor UK and each of the Top 7 contestants will sing TWO songs this week. Check out the spoilers HERE.

The Two Hour Episode Begins at 2:45 ET

As always…I’ll be live blogging! Watch the video stream after the jump.

The judges enter to “Highway to Hell”. Where’s the leather and devil horns?

Wagner – “Creep” by Radiohead – Wager left the X Factor house for some reason. No dancers on the stage this week. Dang. No medley this week! “Why not ruin 3 rock songs?” says Dannii. Lulz. Murdering Radiohead’s “Creep” is quite enough, THANK YOU. OMG it’s the vibrato from HELL. Sorry, but that was terrible. Peeps are booing him. Dannii says, “That is the best that you’ve sung in the whole competition. I think it’s because you connect to the lyrics.” Cheryl says, “I agree with Dannii” Simon says, “You can’t have a go at Dannii, because you chose the song. For you that was very good.” Louis says, “A very believable performance. It was great. Thom York would like it.”

One Direction – “Summer of 69” – By Bryan Adams – Simon remembered all their names! He gets a star. Again, tons of reverb on the mics to hide the fact that THEY CAN’T SING. Nobody is even attempting to sing lead this week. BORING. Of course, they’ll get a tonguebath. Louis says, “I love the choice of song, love the vibe. I think you are the next big boyband.” Dannii says, “You’ve really stepped it up.” Cheryl says, “There’s electricity in the room. You keep getting better and better.” Simon says, “I had nothing to do with this song choice. Harry chose the song.” Simon was in the US, no minding his charges.

Mary Byrne – “All I Want Is You” by U2 – Vocally she’s solid. But, I hate my rock songs turned into AC dreck. So, I’m not really digging this. Here comes the choir! Fireworks too. Dannii says, “They are loving you! So much emotion. Brilliant.” Cheryl says, “You genuinely connect with what you sing. Amazing..” Simon says, “This is what happens Louis when you choose a good song. This is much better than before.” Louis syas, “You’re singing your heart out every week.”

Cher Lloyd – “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne – Uh, she’s rapping parts of this. So, now Cher is attempting to appeal to the tween set? That’s probably where she belongs. Louis says, “It was a brilliant, brilliant production. You’re becoming like your mentor.” Dannii says, “This was my favorite performance of yours. So on the beat.” Simon says, “From the disaster last week to undoubtedly your best performance so far. This is exactly the kind of record you should make. On the money.” Cheryl says, “You absolutely smashed it.” Her best performance or the performance that resembles the kind of records she should be making? I think it’s the latter.

Rebecca Ferguson – “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2 – Hm, she’s doing a cool jazz arrangement of a very powerful song. It feels diminished to me. Not really liking it. She still can’t hold a note. Louis says, “Bono would love that version. You are have the most distinctive voice in the competition.” Dannii says, “It really sparkled, but I’d like a bit more performance from you.” Simon says, “I can see the nerves, it was a little bit stiff. You have the most beautiful distinctive voice. It was a risk worth taking.” Cheryl says, “Everybody loves Rebecca.”

Matt Cardle – “I Love Rock and Roll” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts – Again, this song seems completely out of Matt’s wheelhouse. Is this really the kind of record he’s going to make out in the real world? dancing girls? Power vocals? I think not. Dannii sucks. Louis says, “You can sing anything.” Cheryl says, “There so much love for you out there.” Simon says, “Midway through that song, that’s what you call living the dream. I actually thought it was terrific.” Dannii says, “But that song makes me think it’s Saturday night, lets go out an party.” Matt lost his voice this week.

Katie Waissel – “Sex On Fire” by Kings of Leon – Katie’s hair cut is all about “Honest Katie”! Well here’s a song that’s WAY TOO BIG for Katie. I’m not buying this for one minute. Lots of screeching and hopping around. Maybe this will be the week she finally goes?

Wagner – “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer – Uhh…No? He’s got the suit and the girls and the whole 9 yards and it’s a big fat fail. Like a bad parody. Cheryl says, “It seemed like you enjoyed it Wagner.”, Simon says, “There is something sort of fascinating about you.” Louis says, “Not everybody likes you, but you don’t want everyone to like you.” Wagner kisses Simon’s ass when he tells him nobody has as much charisma as he does.

One Direction – “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker – Simon wants to prove that his boys have good voices. Well, good luck with THAT. Aaaand…maybe not. Oh Harry, you are such a cutie, but…you. cannot…song… And whoever the heck this other guy is? He sucks too. The only one with a half-decent voice is the Bieber look alike, and he’s not that great either. Louis says, “You proved you’re not just another boy band. I loved everything about it. But, I don’t think it’s a rock song.” Dannii says, “Stunning.” Cheryl says, “I absolutely loved hearing you sing.” Simon says, “Joe Cocker actually was a rock singer, Louis. This was in some ways my favorite performance by you. I’m so proud of you tonight.”

Mary Byrne – “Brass in Pocket” by Pretenders – Mary is doing choreography tonight. Hm. Pelvic thrusts? Wha? Noooooo. I love this song. Mary singing this song, with the dancing is totally redic. Please make it stop. Dannii says, “Vocally it was heading toward karaoke. But I loved seeing your energy this week.” Cheryl says, “Get down with your bad self.” Simon says, “I think everything got a bit negative last week. It was good that you did an uptempo song.” Louis says, “I know what this means to you.” Mary didn’t look the least bit comfortable singing that song. And it was totally wedding singer bad.

Rebecca Ferguson – “I Cant’ Get No Satisfaction” – Sad sack Rebecca just does not bring the fun and energy to this song. You gotta sing this one with a sneer and a wink. She can’t manage either. Treyce would have sung this so much better. Louis says, “It’s great to see you do something uptempo. You remind me of a really great Motown star.” Dannii says, “It was so cool, like that vintage original.” Simon says, “Things just went below your standard the past week until this song.” Gah. Quit comparing her to Aretha! Cheryl says, “You have a superstar voice.”

Katie Waissel – “Everybody Hurts” by REM – This song is right in her wheelhouse. Vulnerability, hurt, pleading…that’s where she does best. She could be singing this better-she sounds really nervous. Louis says, “I believed every single word of it. You are an artist.” Dannii says, “Much better song for you.” Simon says, “This is you at your best, when you’re on the ropes. It was chopped up like crazy. I’m frustrated.” Cheryl says, “We have the same amount of time as everyone else, and you filled it beautifully.”

Matt Cardle – “Nights in White Satin” – Matt’s on guitar. Ok. This is more like the Matt I know. Beautiful use of his vibrato. Very emotional, heartfelt. Me likey. “All I can says is it doesn’t get any better than that. Brilliant.” “This is when you are at your absolute best.” “I was nervous it would sound old fashioned, but you turned it into something contemporary. Absolutely genius.” “It was so romantic, very real. It’s what you would record as a record.” DUH.

Cher Lloyd – “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith – Cher gets the pimp spot. They really really don’t want to lose her. Well at least she’s not rapping. But still? Zzzzzzzzzzz. I don’t believe a word of this. Louis says, “I loved the whole performance.” Dannii says, “There’s nobody that performs like you do on that stage.” Simon says, “I think you have had a fantastic night tonight. You reminded us that this is not a karaoke competition. Congratulations.” Cheryl says, “We have never seen anybody like you on X Factor. I believe in you.”
