X Factor UK Season 9 – Manchester & Glasgow Auditions

Only 5 full auditions and 8 minutes of singing?

Scary Spice Mel B and American pop singer Anastacia are reportedly joining Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh in Manchester and Glasgow.

Last year’s hopeful Jade Richards returns with a new look.

This week’s controversy: One hour long show features only 5 full auditions and 8 minutes of singing. Is Britain running out of talent? To be honest, the first two episodes of auditions were entertaining, but didn’t offer a lot of viable talent.

‘I don’t really know what Westlife look like’: X Factor wannabe Raymond sings boy band’s hit but doesn’t know who they are when he meets them
He may have impressed X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos when he sang You Raise Me Up in his audition, but Raymond failed to recognise Westlife when he met them.

The 77-year-old came face-to-face with Kian Egan and Mark Feehily in Newcastle but didn’t know who they were.

‘I don’t really know what Westlife looks like, but I know one of them is a blonde haired lad,’ he said to Xtra Factor host, Caroline Flack.

‘I’d find you so annoying if you were in my category’: Gary Barlow blasts wannabe Nicola-Marie but the rest of the X Factor panel put her through
She may have done an energetic dance routine and completed it with the splits but that wasn’t enough for Nicola-Marie Bloor to impress Gary Barlow.

The 35-year-old from Derby appeared to get on his nerves from the word go when she wouldn’t stop talking before actually singing.

‘Right the music’s going to play now, so take a deep breath and stop talking,’ guest judge Melanie Brown told her.

‘You’re really hot’: Mel B has a soft spot for X Factor wannabe Joseph Whelan who stuns the judges with a Led Zeppelin classic
It’s not very often that the female X Factor judges get in a fluster, so Joesph Whelan should be flattered.

The 26-year-old tool salesman caused quite a stir when he auditioned in Manchester, and judge Melanie Brown didn’t hide her feelings for him.

‘You smashed it. You’re really hot, you’ve got great tattoos, you smash thing up with tools and then you sing! Done!’ she told him following his performance of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love.

‘Did you hear yourself?’ Guest judge Anastacia doesn’t hold back as she joins the X Factor panel in Glasgow
She may not have been as mean as Melanie Brown, but Anastacia certainly spoke her mind when she joined the X Factor judging panel.

The 43-year-old singer joined Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos for the Glasgow auditions, where she was stunned by a few of the acts.

When one wannabe named Loretta took to the stage and sang an awful rendition of the Power of Love, Anastacia simply said to her: ‘Did you hear yourself?’

Nicola Marie’s audition – Taylor Dayne’s Tell It To My Heart – The X Factor UK 2012

Nicola Marie sings a dubstep version of Taylor Dayne’s Tell It To My Heart.
Split’s not easy being Nicola Marie! Her energetic routine divided the Judges with Gary telling the chatterbox she was dated. But Mel B was a big fan, saying: ‘I proper loved it. It was full-on!’

Jake Quickenden’s audition – Kings of Leons’ Use Somebody – The X Factor UK 2012

Jake Quickenden belts out Use Somebody by the Kings Of Leon.
Isn’t life a beach for hunky lifeguard Jake Quickenden? In addition to wowing the Judges, the shore thing went down swimmingly well with all the ladies in the house.
Mouth-to-mouth, anyone?

Alison Brunton’s audition – Lady Gaga’s The Edge Of Glory – The X Factor UK 2012

Alison Brunton gets into the groove with Lady Gaga’s Edge Of Glory.
In case you didn’t know, Alison Brunton is desperately seeking Madonna. Channelling the queen of pop, the mum-of-two gave it her all on stage. The Judges may have been nonplussed but at least she got a hug off Gary, prompting an embarrassing PDA for her kids.

Joseph Whelan’s audition – Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love – The X Factor UK 2012

Joseph Whelan wows with Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.
No wonder our Judges (particularly Mel B and Tulisa) were falling over themselves to heap praise on Joseph Whelan. The doting dad not only smashes things up with tools (err, how HOT is that?) but he also has the stage presence of a rock god. Wow.

Melanie Masson’s audition – Janis Joplin’s Cry Baby – The X Factor UK 2012

Melanie Masson rocks out to Janis Joplin’s Cry Baby.
Her day job may involve dressing up a fairy but Melanie Masson required no magic dust to cast a spell over our Judges. Her rocked up rendition of Cry Baby left our Judges almost welling up themselves with Tulisa telling her: ‘That’s HOW you do an audition.’ High praise indeed.

OMG, where do they find all these people? Part-time fairy?! Really?
