Tonight TOP 24 travel to 4 different parts of the world.
Sharon Osbourne’s girls will travel to San Francisco, USA via Dublin, Ireland. Sharon’s guest judges will be her children Kelly and Jack Osbourne.
Louis Walsh’s boys will travel to Istanbul, Turkey. Louis’ guest judge will be singer Mika.
Simon Cowell’s groups will travel to the south of France. Simon’s guest judge will be Queen Cheryl.
Nicole Scherzinger’s overs will travel to South Africa. Nicole’s guest judge will be rapper Stormzy.
TOP 24 arrive at the airport in London and they have no idea where they are going. Dermot and Louis explain that Anthony Russell is out and Sam Black is in. Sam gets a phone call from Louis. Each category gets an envelope. The boys go to Istanbul and Jack Mason has no idea where Istanbul is. The overs go to South Africa. The groups are headed to the south of France. The girls find out they are going to Dublin and they are not too thrilled. Irish weather is not too different from British weather. At the airport, they find Louis Walsh with another envelope. They are actually headed to San Francisco, USA.
First, Nicole and the over. Nicole introduces Stormzy. Nicole and Stormzy take her category to safari. The next day, it’s time for performances.
Kevin Davy White – Puzzle of Love (original song)
Nicole tells Stormzy Kevin is the nicest guy in the world. The song sounds okay and Kevin sounds fine. Stormzy thinks his voice is incredible.
Berget Lewis – Clarity (Zedd feat. Foxes)
Berget starts singing and she struggles. Did she forget the lyrics. My God, someone with so much experience should not forget the lyrics or be overcome with nerves. Stormzy thinks she is vocally sound, but is she ready for the live shows?
Slavko Kalezic – On the Floor (J.Lo)
Slavko explains to the other contestants that his name means ‘fame’. Well yes, sort off. Slavko says Nicole expects a show from him. So he sings the J.Lo song and jumps around a bit. Nicole says Slavko brings the entertainment.
Matt Linnen – Everybody’s Free (Rozalla)
Slavko sounds fine on this, if a bit boring. I’m not sure about this song choice for him. Nicole loves the tone of his voice. Stormzy says that at the beginning the song was too big for Matt.
Talia Dean – Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? (Culture Club)
Talia’s performance comes and goes without a hitch. Stormzy says she emotionally connected with the song.
Tracy LeAnne Jefford – You’ll Lose A Good Thing (Barbara Lynn)
Tracy had an unique tone to her voice. but I think she is trying to make it even more pronounced that it is naturally and that’s putting me off. Nicole wonders if Tracy will put some people off because she is a traveller.
In the evening, Nicole and Stormzy deliberate while the contestants worry about their chances.
It’s decision time.
Matt Linnen – Through to the live shows!
Nicole says there is a lot more work to be done with Matt’s voice, but she liked his song choice.
Slavko Kalezic – He is going home.
Nicole likes his showmanship, but he is the weakest vocalist in the group.
Kevin Davy White – Through to the live shows!
Nicole says Kevin sounded amazing the previous day. She worries about his versatility.
Berget Lewis – She is going home.
Talia Dean – She is going home.
Nicole says people connected with Talia.
Tracy LeAnne Jefford – Through to the live shows!
Nicole says Tracy has a radio-ready voice. She is worried her voice would break.
Nicole’s overs: Matt Linnen, Kevin Davy White, Tracy LeAnne Jefford
The girls travelled to San Francisco to perform for their mentor Sharon Osbourne. They go to a mansion. Is that Sharon’s real home? Sharon introduces her children Kelly and Jack Osbourne. They arrive in a big red car.
Holly Tandy – Russian Roulette (Rihanna)
She says she struggled to make friends in school. She then delivers a lovely rendition of ‘Russian Roulette’. Kelly and Jack both praise Holly. Sharon says Holly is very confident, but worries because she is only 16.
Rai-Elle Williams – Somebody That I Used To Know (Gotye)
Rai-Elle sings the song and makes it her own with unique phrasing. She also adds a rap.
Kelly praises her versatility and authenticity. But again, she is only 16.
Alisah Bonaobra – Lay Me Down (Sam Smith)
Alisah kills it, from start to finish. Kelly and Sharon admit Alisah can really, really sing. Jack says this was vocally the cleanest performance. Sharon says she didn’t originally put her through because she sang Whitney and Disney songs. Then Kelly says there was something missing for her.
Grace Davies – More Than You (original song)
Grace sings and Sharon stops her in the middle, because Grace is clipping the words. Sharon tells her to relax and sing. Grace starts singing again and breaks down in the middle. The song itself isn’t bad at all. Jack says she is a great songwriter, but her voice lacks power. Sharon says Grace has amazing talent … for songwriting.
Georgina Panton – In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
Her nickname is Gigi. She delivers a good performance. Sharon critiques her pitch.
DeAnna Mussington – Dive (Ed Sheeran)
DeAnna was with her family in Anguilla when hurricane Irma hit the island. They probably won’t have electricity for 7 months. She is very emotional and struggles to sing. She goes back to the other girls in the house. She returns after Georgina’s perfomance. I don’t think this was a good song choice for her. She sounds okay, but isn’t a standout in any way. Sharon says she liked her initially because she is very tasteful in what she does.
Jack and Kelly think all 6 girls are great. They join Sharon in the evening.
They think Holly lacks charisma. Sharon says Rai-Elle isn’t consistent. Sharon worries about Alisah’s personality. Sharon is afraid of letting Grace go or keep her. DeAnna is very delicate and emotional. Sharon isn’t sure Georgina’s voice is a great recording voice.
The next day, Sharon delivers her decision.
DeAnna Mussington – She is going home.
Sharon basically says she is worried DeAnna wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure.
Rai-Elle Williams – Through to the live shows!
Sharon is worried, because Rai-Elle is only 16.
Georgina Panton – She is going home.
Sharon says she never knows what she will get from Georgina. She says Georgina isn’t ready and needs more training.
Holly Tandy – Through to the live shows!
Sharon says she hasn’t seen Holly shine yet and show the x factor.
Alisah Bonaobra – She is going home.
She says Alisah has an amazing voice, but is too one dimensional.
Grace Davies – Through to the live shows!
Sharon says she didn’t recognise Grace’s voice the previous night. Sharon asks Grace if she would prefer to just be a songwriter.
Sharon’s girls: Rai-Elle Williams, Holly Tandy, Grace Davies
We will be watching the boys and groups tomorrow. And there will be wildcards this season.
