Their biggest gig yet! One Direction perform atop a lorry at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony
They’re currently one of the biggest boy bands in the world right now, so it was only right that One Direction were asked to perform at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony tonight.

The fivesome followed performances by Madness and the Pet Shop Boys at the Olympic Stadium and sang their debut single What Makes You Beautiful atop an extended lorry.

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson looked chuffed to be there , and of course were not phased by the large crowd.

One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Proud Owner of ‘football’ team
Before becoming a member of one of U.K.’s most popular boy bands (One Direction), singer Louis Tomlinson played on a local football (well, soccer in the U.S.) team called the Three Horse Shoes team located in Doncaster, England. When the team was in dire need of new uniforms and gear, Tomlinson came to the rescue, but under one condition – he is now considered owner and honorary member of the pub side team.

And Tomlinson seems to be taking care of his team, as one source claims he supplied the boys with “a really smart set of Nike strips and has even arranged a sponsor – Yorkshire Tea.”

Aiden Grimshaw talks new album, One Direction US success
Finishing ninth on The X Factor rarely results in a record deal with a major label and a headline UK tour.

However, due to resounding popularity and plenty of hard work, 2010 contestant Aiden Grimshaw has defied the odds and will release his debut album Misty Eye later this month.

Digital Spy caught up with the star to talk about his new material, as well as getting his thoughts on the success of his fellow contestants One Direction and Cher Lloyd.

Olly Murs Ready to Begin Pop Conquest of America With Debut LP
‘X Factor’ runner-up has already found success in native Britain

England’s Olly Murs doesn’t consider himself a pop star. After finishing runner-up in the sixth season of the U.K.’s The X Factor, the cherub-faced Brit went on to achieve megawatt status, scoring two double-platinum albums and three Number 1 singles since 2010. Girls clamor for him, lucrative opportunities are long and Katy Perry couldn’t edge him out for the chart’s top slot. And yet, he’s still got a small-town state of mind.

“I feel like Olly Murs from Essex, and I still live here with my parents and my friends and I stay home as much as I can,” admits the 28-year-old. “I still think I’m learning the trade and learning all the time and I don’t feel like I’ve reached my peak and where I can get to. So yeah, I don’t think of myself as a pop star just yet – but I’m getting there.”

X Factor hopefuls lazy complacent and cocky, says Barlow
For many, he was just too nice on The X Factor last year.

But it seems Gary Barlow is going to be much tougher on contestants this year after admitting last year’s batch were ‘lazy’, ‘complacent’ and ‘cocky’.

The new approach comes after boss Simon Cowell, who is executive producer on the programme, said the finalists for the 2011 series were not strong enough

With newcomer Nicole Scherzinger joining the judges, this year’s X Factor panel is the most glamorous yet
Gosh, how things have changed since the days when Sharon Osbourne was the sole female judge on The X Factor. Back then, it seemed the qualifications you needed to secure a place at Simon Cowell’s side were a sharp wit, vast experience of the entertainment business, and that elusive TV quality of likeability.

Now, in these post-Cheryl Cole days, hair and legs to die for are important too – as is a place on one of those lads’ mags Sexiest Woman Alive lists.

You may quibble about whether Tulisa Contostavlos deserves the title, but the 24-year-old is officially the sexiest woman in the world, at least according to FHM. In the flesh, she certainly has ample charms.
