One Direction Reach An Incredible 12 Million Sales In Less Than A Year

Band Presented With Special Disc To Celebrate Phenomenal Success

One Direction have notched up an incredible 12 million sales worldwide in less than a year including 8 million singles, 3 million albums and a million dvds. To celebrate this amazing success the band were presented with a special disc last night by Syco and Sony Music in the UK.

One Direction’s debut album Up All Night has sold over 3 million copies worldwide and has hit No.1 in 16 different countries, including the US where they became the first ever UK band to debut at No.1 on the US +Billboard chart. The album is currently the top selling debut album of 2012 in the US.

In the US, Up All Night has been certified platinum with over 1 million sales, whilst “What Makes You Beautiful” has sold over 3 million copies in the US and 5 million worldwide. Their live DVD is also 3 x platinum in the US. In the UK, Up All Night is at double platinum status, whilst their DVD is the biggest selling music DVD of the year.

One Direction will play at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, it has been reported.

The X Factor boyband were first linked to the event earlier this month when a report suggested the ceremony would celebrate the best of British music.

They are one of the most popular boybands in the world, and are greeted with piercing screams from fans wherever they go.

And now One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson has revealed he has started to go deaf in his right ear due to the volume of screaming the band are subjected to.

The 20-year-old singer is quoted at telling the Daily Mirror that he is suffering from tinnitus in his ear, which has muffled his hearing.

He said: ‘I am going slightly deaf in my right ear. It’s tinnitus… something like that.’

Louis added that the band’s fans were always ‘very loud, especially Scousers.’

Louis and bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne have now been told that they must wear protective earpieces when they hit the stage.

And One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson decided to add fuel to the fire today but poking fun at The Wanted.

The cheeky singer, 20, was seen reading through a bargain book about the Chasing The Sun singers after stopping off at a pound shop with his band mate Liam Payne.

He won millions of fans worldwide when he was crowned the winner of The X Factor back in 2005.

And now Shayne Ward has come forward to blast the show that made him famous after they left him off a promo for the upcoming series.

The advert for the next series of The X Factor features appearances from success stories on the show including One Direction, Olly Murs, Little Mix and JLS, as well as ex-winners Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.

But after being snubbed by the series, Shayne took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

He tweeted: ‘Just seen the new Xfactor promo video.

‘Yet again it’s like im being erased slowly from their history. Pathetic really Would love to know why?’

After receiving supportive messages from some of his 170,000 followers, Shayne later tweeted: ‘Thank you to everyone who tweeted me nice messages.It just would’ve been nice to have been acknowledged.

‘It was a big part of my life.’

The ‘Take A Chance On Me’ singers are currently working on their fourth studio album, following 2011’s ‘Jukebox’, and say the record will be more varied than their previous releases.
