X Factor Top 7 Post Show Roundup

After last night’s surprising X-Factor results, here’s a round-up of post-show press:

Marcus Canty, who survived the sing-off against Drew last night, made the big mistake of looking at his twitter feed “OMG i type in Marcus Canty in the search and WOW!!!! People are really mad that I made it through! The devil is working! #LovetheLord last night,” Stop looking at your feed, Marcus.

Marcus tweets, “Dear #X-Factor I’m really in the top 5??!!!! OMG!!!!!! I will smile till I can’t nomore! Time to put in more work! #TeamMarcusCanty”

Justin Beiber tweeted Drew last night after the show aired on the West coast last night, “keep yr head up. I lost my 1st competition too. this is just the beginning. never say never.” Very sweet. You might recall, In Drew’s audition package, she revealed that she was all about the Biebs. (Via THR)

Drew tweets, “Sometimes life isn’t fair. Sometimes people make mistakes. I wish I could still be performing for you guys on that stage. #couldvebeen

Drew congratulates Marcus, “@IAmMarcusCanty Marcus, you rock! Great battle! May the lord win! Which means it didn’t matter which one of us went! I love you! Swag it out”

And she comforts Astro, “@AstronomicalKid hey I remember earlier today we were both saying vote for drew and astro and look at us now flying in the free realm:) Xo”

Astro tweets, “Don’t be sad #teamASTRO! This is just the beginning of our journey together! I plan on sharing my music with u guys for many years to come!”

Stacy tweets kind words to Astro, “@AstronomicalKid u took it waaay better than I did. Proud of u! Great job on @TheXFactorUSA can’t wait to buy your music #fan”

On The Scene report from EW: Simon was a tad bit confused: “Simon has no idea what is going on, man When the judges first stepped on stage with their respective acts, Simon turned to Melanie Amaro and appeared to ask her if she knew what, exactly, was about to happen. Melanie, not having created the show she’s currently the frontrunner on, just shrugged and smiled.” Poor Drew had to stand by herself during an ad break. Simon was probably outside smoking, “After Tinie’s performance, Nicole joined Josh and L.A. joined Astro and Marcus on stage, but poor Drew was left to stand by herself, stage center, for the entire ad break. Simon finally joined her with just 15 seconds before they were back on the air.”

On the Scene Report from EOnline: “When we asked Reid how it felt to see Cowell humbled onstage, he bluntly said, “That was tactical. That was tactical to try to gain votes from Nicole and Paula. It didn’t work. Clever, but didn’t work.” Ouch! So what was Cowell’s response to Reid’s “tactical” allegation? “He’s nuts. He’s genuinely nuts,” Cowell told us.

On the Scene Report from Zap2it: “”My ‘Save Me’ performance sucked. It was so bad,” she says. “I forgot there was a key change involved. So I started going all over the place.” She adds that when she missed the song’s key change, she looked the judges and could tell from their response she was going home.”

Exit Interviews:

Astro’s EW Interview: “There’s no reason to be crying,” said Astro. “We going to have a future. I was actually crying — I don’t know if they saw it on camera, but when I walked down to get out of the auditorium, I was tearing up. And then I said, Wait a minute, why am I crying again? This is a stepping stone. This is just the beginning for my career.”

Drew’s EW Interview: ““You know, I kind of had a weird feeling about tonight in the first place, so I was honestly dreading the results all day,” she told reporters backstage. “When I was on stage, I finally let out my feelings of being sad. I knew something was not going to go the way that it should. But as the night’s gone on,” she continued, “I’ve realized that this is the greatest experience of my life. And everyone’s going to be going home, whether they’re the winner or someone else, in the next few weeks. So for me to have made it this far is an honor. For me to be on the first X Factor [in the] U.S.A. and, you know, just to be able to say that I’ve worked with Simon Cowell, and I’m best friends with Melanie and Rachel Crow. I’m best friends with people who are still on The X Factor, might I say!”

X Factor.com post boot interview: Astro was ready, “I was ready for the bottom two,” he said. Why? “I just look at the blogs 24/7. I saw all the comments, like, why is this kid not going home yet and stuff like that. It is what it is. I’m about to go home and make some music and get back to the grind.”

Drew had an inkling too, “From the beginning I was telling Simon, ‘I don’t want the chair.’ I knew that I was going to look awkward on the chair. Me and Simon already talked about it and we’re past that. We’re probably going to burn that chair!”

Awkward stage performance aside, Drew did admit that L.A. Reid had a point all season long. “I didn’t show being versatile the whole competition and that isn’t Simon’s fault. That is my fault,” she admitted when reflecting on tonight’s elimination.
