The Voice 6 – Top 10 Power Rankings and Song Suggestions

Hey guys! It’s Adam. I know I’ve been gone for a few weeks, but I’m back now with the top 10 power rankings! Read on below and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Whether you agree or disagree with me, I’d love to hear what you guys are thinking. Also, if you think I am cool, you can follow me @adamhsamuel on twitter.

10th- Tess Boyer from Team Shakira (Last week: 5th)- I hate having to put Tess at this position. I think she has a ton of potential and I would have loved to see her break the top 5, but at this point, I think she is doomed to an early exit. Last season, the contestant instant saved the week before was always sent home the following week and I think Tess is in huge danger of leaving this week. If she can pull off a performance that sells well enough she could be safe, but I just don’t see it happening. However since I’m ever the optimist, I’ll hope she can pull off a show stopping performance that will keep her around for a few more weeks. She probably will end up having to sing for the instant save again this week though and I just don’t see her getting it two weeks in a row. However, to be frank, I don’t think she has a snowballs chance in hell of making the top 4, but she has potential to surprise us.

9th- Bria Kelly from Team Usher (Last week: 2nd)- How the mighty have fallen! Who just a week ago looked like a sure bet for the finale has fallen to the back of the pack and is looking poised for an elimination this week. What I think the problem with Bria is, is that she is playing it safe and not straying to far from what she is comfortable with. My suggestion to her is that she needs to remind her fans and viewers why they fell in love with her. I also suggest she ditch the guitar if she isn’t really going to be using it in a performance. I think she should try something softer for this week, maybe a slow ballad like To Make You Feel My Love, or something epic like Creep. While at this point I think she has potential to be singing for the instant save come Tuesday, I think she is also very likely to get it, but we shall have to see. However, if Bria can remind people of why they fell in love with her, I think she has a ton of potential to still move up in the competition and last a while longer, but after Rolling In the Deep, I have no choice but to put her at number 9.

8th- Delvin Choice from Team Adam (Last week: 7th)- Delvin has an incredible voice and seems like a super nice guy, but last week, his song didn’t do very well on itunes, which doesn’t bode well for him. He has potential to be safe this week, but I just don’t see him making it past top 6 week. If this week’s song doesn’t sell well like his last one, he could be in danger. I suggest Delvin maybe try to appeal to a broader audience then he is shooting for; maybe try something more current this week.

7th- Kristen Merlin from Team Shakira (Last week: 11th)- Kristen’s song last week sold really well, only being beaten out by Josh. However, I’m going out on a limb here by saying I don’t think she will hold onto that number two spot any longer. I think when her mic went out during the performance, she got a ton of pity votes that managed to keep her safe. This week, for me she is a wildcard: either she will hold onto her top spot, or slide right down to the bottom. I’m predicting the latter, but I could be wrong.

6th- Audra McLaughlin from Team Blake (Last week: 8th)– Everything about Audra is safe and pleasant. To me, she is perfectly fine in her genre and delivers solid performances. Not always memorable, but still solid performances. However, at some point the weaker contestants will be gone leaving the front runners and Audra will soon become the weakest link. For now, she should be fine, but soon the eliminations will start catching up and she will be in trouble.

5th- Kat Perkins from Team Adam (Last week: 10th)- Kat surprised me this week. She has a ton of stage presence and can really sing the heck out of a song. She is a great singer with a ton of personality. The thing is, I just don’t see her cracking the top 4, which is full of singers who America just seems to prefer over her. There is nothing wrong with Kat or her performances, just America seems to have chosen their golden four and she isn’t in it.

4th- Sisaundra Lewis from Team Blake (Last week: 3rd)- I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I think Sisaundra has the best voice in the competition. However, here is the think with her, I feel like every performance is kind of like the same thing. They all have the big glory notes and are incredibly consistent. Because of this, her fans are expecting her to perform at a certain incredible level that we wouldn’t expect from someone like Christina or Tess and I think that anything less then incredible from Sisaundra could put her in serious danger in the weeks to come. For now though, she is sitting pretty in my top 4, but she seriously needs to switch it up because eventually America will grow bored of her glory notes and people are already starting to think she has already shown us all she can do.

3rd- Jake Worthington from Team Blake (Last week: 6th) – I don’t personally see the appeal in Jake. For me, he goes on the stage, performs a country anthem basically like every other song he has done, and the votes pour in. It isn’t working for me, but it clearly is working for America. I think Jake will be here in for the long haul. I don’t get what he is doing, but it is clearly working for him and getting him tons of votes, so I can’t deny him a spot any lower then third. I would however love to see an underdog like Tess, or Bria have a redemption arc where they could steal Jake’s spot, but I don’t see it happening.

2nd- Christina Grimmie from Team Adam (Last week: 1st)- My personal favorite has a lot going for her at this point. Her vocal on Dark Horse was spot on and she took the song to places I didn’t expect her to. She has a huge fanbase and her song did pretty well on itunes. I think she is the safest choice on making the finale, but whether or not she will take the crown will be all up to whether she can deliver some more incredible performances. At this point, she is one of the two who I think are miles a head of the rest of the pack.

1st- Josh Kaufman from Team Usher (Last week: 4th)- Josh’s song sold the most copies on itunes, that coupled with a show stopping pimp spot performance propelled him to the top of my power rankings. Right now, Josh is the guy to beat. Whether or not he will be able to hold onto the spot for the long run will interesting to watch unfold. His spot on my rankings could change, but at the moment, I feel confident giving him the number one spot.

So those are my thoughts. What are yours? Sound off in the comments bellow!
