The Voice finalist, Chris Mann, signs a major record deal, Billboard is reporting.
Chris Mann, the classically trained singer who made it to the finals NBC’s series “The Voice,” is the first act signed to Ron Fair’s new Universal Republic imprint Faircraft. His debut album is expected in the fall.
Mann is in the studio working on his debut album with producers Walter Afanasieff ( Josh Groban, Mariah Carey), Keith Thomas ( Charlotte Church), Marco Marinangeli (Groban, Il Divo), Marius de Vries ( Madonna, U2, Groban) and Bleu ( Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato).
There IS a market for the pop opera Chris sings. (See: Boyle, Susan, Evancho, Jackie). He could sell some albums to people who like Josh Groban-like Adult Contemporary.
Ron Fair has also signed Chris’ coach, Christina Aguilera. Coincidence or not?
Prior to auditioning for The Voice, Chris was a member of the Dalton Warbler a capella group with Darren Criss, on Glee. Chris also has a connection to David Foster—he sang a duet of “The Prayer” with Katharine McPhee. And, he recently became engaged.
