The Voice 25 Playoffs: Watch a preview of Tae Lewis performing Randy Houser’s upbeat ‘Runnin’ Out of Moonlight’

The two part The Voice 25 Playoffs begin on Monday (April 22) with Teams Dan + Shay and John Legend advancing three artists each to the live shows. One of Team Dan + Shay’s five Playoff artists is Tae Lewis, whom the duo stole from Team Reba McEntire in the Knockouts.

Check out a preview from NBC featuring Tae performing “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” by Randy Houser. Wearing his signature country hat, the singer worked the stage and performed the upbeat song, surrounded by musicians and background singers. At one point, he sang a long a’cappella note before hitting a breakdown.

Will Dan + Shay advance Tae Lewis to the Live Shows?

John said afterward, “He’s just trying to tell Dan + Shay ‘Y’all know what y’all need to do!'” Reba added, “Everybody just kind of leans forward when you walk in the room because they want to know what you’re going to do next.” She concluded, “Lives absolutely. That’s my vote!”

“This was your most soulful performance,” said Chance the Rapper. “You were doing like the Nay Nay kind of half way, around the stage the whole time.” At which point, Tae demonstrated the dance move. “That’s what I’m talking about!” Chance exclaimed. Like Reba, Chance would put Tae on his live team.

You’re an amazing tenor vocalist,” said Dan Smyers of Dan + Shay. “And you really showcase your range in this.” Shay Moody added, “I just had this fire in my belly,” he joked, “It might have been the tacos I had for lunch, but I’m not sure!” He continued, “You are so fantastic…and I’m so glad you are on Team Dan + Shay.” Dan said, “You did not let us down today. You made us damn proud up her on this stage.”

The competition is down to twenty artists. Each of the coaches will be helped by a Playoff Advisor. Team Saweetie assisted Team Dan + Shay while Maluma assisted Team Legend. Each coach can only advance three contestants to the live shows. Will Tae Lewis be one of them? Tune in Monday night on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT to find out.
