The Voice season 21 Knockout rounds began this week. Which performances were your favorites? Mega-Mentor Ed Sheeran Yay or Nay? Who was ROBBED? Or NOT!
Maybe it was the edit, but Ed Sheeran is a pretty great Mega Mentor. He seems to really care about the contestants, and strives to give helpful advice. His kindness reminds me of when Chris Martin mentored on American Idol earlier this year. It was a heartwarming gesture when Ed whipped out his phone to show Kelly’s teenage artists how terrible he was at their age. It’s important to know that people are never fully formed–especially teenagers!
As the Knockouts proceed, The Voice season 21 talent is coming into focus. The Battles and Knockouts have been entertaining so far. The abundance of talent has meant saying goodbye to singers who could have competed ably in the live shows.
For instance, Gospel singer turned R&B artist Brittanybree might have made it all the way to the finals on another season. But this season she’s competing with a slew of talented R&B singers, including Gymani, Wendy Moten, and Libianca. Ditto for Jonathan Mouton, a male soul singer who could have gone farther. Country singer Kinsey Rose would also have been a worthy live show contestant.
My favorites this season are: Ryleigh Plank, Hailey Mia, Girl Named Tom, Gymani, Libianca, Wendy Moten and Samuel Harness. Honorable mentions to David Vogel and Holly Forbes.
The above is perhaps my longest favorites list ever!
