I had an inkling “9 to 5” might not have been the best song choice for Ali Caldwell, but after owning the night last week, the singer isn’t even charting in the Top 200 on iTunes. Ouch. Actually, I’m a little surprised at how the performances are charting overall. I would not have expected Sundance Head to be leading the pack and for Aaron Gibson to be ahead of Austin Allsup, Brendan Fletcher and Josh Gallagher. And Josh not cracking the Top 100? He delivered a solid performance of a popular country song.
My favorite performances of the night were from Wé McDonald, Brendan Fletcher and Austin Allsup. An honorable mention goes to Aaron Gibson for singing the right song and nailing it. And I bet Trent Reznor won’t be a d*ck about it. Also, while Sundance got off to a slow start, he really brought it in the last half of “No One.” Points for thinking out of the box, too. His optimistic and likeable personality certainly adds to his appeal.
