The Masked Singer 4 Recap: Week 3 Reveal Live Blog (VIDEOS)

CR: Michael Becker/FOX.

The Masked Singer continues tonight, with the Group A Playoffs!

Celebrities will perform in crazy costumes. ONE will be unmasked by audience vote before the episode ends. After the contestants are presented, with clues, they will perform a song. Then, it’s up to the virtual audience to guess who is behind the mask.

Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke sit on the panel, while Nick Cannon hosts and is an executive producer.

Performing tonight in Group A is: Popcorn, Giraffe, Snow Owls, and Sun. ONE celebrity leaves the competition after a virtual audience vote.

Nick mentions that Jenny guessed that Gremlin was Mickey Rourke. So she has a point in the judges contest!

Hijinks ensue as “The Robin” mask takes the stage to sing “I’m sexy and I know it.” Oh. It’s Joel McHale. He’s a guest judge tonight. He tonelessly sings “Blurred Lines.”

Popcorn

Clues: She wanted to step far out of her comfort zone. She wants to kiss Nick. “The Corn and The Beautiful” flashes on the screen. She had a weird medical condition when she was a kid. There’s a hair crimper and a Rubik’s cube on a table. So, 80s. Also, an LGBTQ flag.

Performance: Falling by Harry Styles – First, Popcorn is a soulful, big voiced singer. And two, it’s obvious that she’s mature. The Masked Singer has at least one iconic diva in the cast. And she is definitely one of those. Robin says all the emotion is in her voice “gorgeous.” Joel calls her voice incredible. Ha ha. A drone is dropping clues because SOCIAL DISTANCING. “The second rock from the sun may be far away, but it should bring you closer to me.” Joel guesses Gloria Gaynor. Ken guesses Katy Perry because of her crazy costumes. Why do the judges keep guessing artists who are contracted to other competition shows? Jenny guesses Vanessa Williams.

Prediction: Pretty dang sure that Popcorn is 80’s diva and superstar Taylor Dayne. Yup. In Taylor’s memoir, she talked about how she “overcame physical and mental health problems as a child.”

Giraffe

Clues: He needs fun in his life right now. He eats peaches off a tree. He had a “terrifying episode…I could barely walk or talk.” His “herd” has his back.

Performance: Get Down On it by Kool and the Gang. Giraffe’s voice is smooth, but not very powerful. Did he rap last time? Yes, Nicole mentions the rapping. Giraffe’s clue: “Score my identity–Dice are his clue.” Robin thinks its Travis Barker, because of the horrible airplane accident survived. Jenny guesses Scott Wolf. Nicole guesses Shia Labeouf because he has a giraffe tattoo. Ken agrees as he babbles on and on.

Snow Owls

Clues: They are the first costume to compete as a pair. He went through a messy break up. “I took his side and was his anchor,” she says. “He was my knight in shining armor.” He talked her into taking a big chance.

Performance: Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor and John Legend – These two are country singers. And I think the two are attempting to throw fans off their ACTUAL relationship. Jenny calls it a “loving” performance. Robin liked hearing more solos this time. Clue: It’s a witches hat. “We will tip our hats to whichever one of you figures out our clue.” Ken guesses Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. Nicole guesses Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. Jenny guesses Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. No way.

Prediction: Married couple Clint Black and Lisa Hartman. The two are trying hard to appear like good friends or siblings instead of a couple. Hence, talk of helping with a “break up.” But that hint is misleading. Clint had a messy break up from his manager. The witch hat from the drone clue points to Lisa starring in a Bewitched spinoff called Tabitha. Plus, the two voices are unmistakably Clint and Lisa.

Sun

Clues: She missed out on a lot of her childhood, growing up in a fractured childhood. Nature has helped her heal. She makes references to cooking and the Johnny Cash song “I Walk the Line.”

Performance: Praying by Kesha – Sun delivers the big, emotional performance of the night! She’s not going home. Nicole calls the performance “captivating.” It’s her favorite female performance of all time. Clue: It’s a magic eight ball “Outlook not so hot.” Jenny is sticking to Demi Lovato or Mandy Moore. MANDI IS ON ANOTHER SHOW. Too famous for that. Robin guesses Katharine McPhee again. No way. Her voice isn’t that strong. Nicole guesses Carrie Underwood. NOW Y’ALL ARE RIDICULOUS.

Prediction: Pretty sure Sun is country icon Leann Rimes. In her video package, Sun talks about missing out on her childhood. Leann started singing at 13 or 14 and had well-publicized disputes with her father.

Results: The singer headed home tonight is….the Giraffe! Obvious eliminated mask. He is the weakest singer tonight. First impression guesses: Ken guessed Wil.i.am but now he thinks its Shia Labeouf. Nicole guessed Dale Earnhardt Jr. She’s sticking with that. Jenny guessed Travis Barker but now she thinks Seth Green. Robin guessed Jaleel White, but now he thinks its Travis Barker. Joel guesses Jason Priestley.

And the Giraffe is….Brian Austin Green from 90210. Wow. I would have never guessed that. Ha ha, Robin and Brian were best friends as kids. He’s gobsmacked! The peaches the giraffe ate in his clue package represented the Peach Pit. Brian’s bff Robin joins him on stage for his sing out.
