The Amazing Race 29 Recap – Episode 11 Live Blog

A new episode of The Amazing Race airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with Matt and Redmond learning they must fly to Seoul, South Korea and proceed to the Gangham District. On the way to the airport, we hear from the teams. Matt and Redmond are hoping Tara and Joey will be eliminated next since they see them as the biggest threat to win. Brooke and Scott say they are the underdog team. They (along with London and Logan) have never won a leg. Tara and Joey say last leg was their toughest one yet, but they’re proud of doing well throughout the entire race. London and Logan are looking forward to having a good time in Seoul.

They land in Seoul, and Matt and Redmond decide to not take a taxi. Instead, they take the subway. Everyone else in taxis, but the traffic is very bad. However, Matt and Redmond miss a connecting subway train, and Tara and Joey arrive at the Gangham district first. They get their next clue, and they learn they must go to Hanyang University Olympic Gym. Brooke and Scott and London and Logan arrive at the district next, and they make their way to the gym too. Matt and Redmond are still in the subway.

Tara and Joey are the first team to arrive at the gym, and they learn they have a Roadblock to complete. They must do sport stacking, and they’re required to complete a sequence in less than seven seconds. Joey chooses to do the Roadblock. Brooke and Scott arrive shortly afterwards, and Brooke chooses to do the Roadblock. London and Logan arrive later with Logan doing the sport stacking. All three of them manage to complete the Roadblock before Matt and Redmond arrive, with Brooke completing it first, Joey second, and Logan third. They each get a clue telling them to go to Mugyewon Arts & Cultural Center. Matt and Redmond, meanwhile, finally did get to Gangham District, but their taxi driver got lost on the way to Hanyang University Olympic Gym.

Brooke and Scott arrive at Mugyewon Arts & Cultural Center first. They learn their next task is to prepare kimchi. Tara and Joey and London and Logan arrive soon afterwards. Brooke and Scott are bickering as they’re preparing the kimchi. Brooke tells Scott he already did the task wrong and they must start over. London and Logan, in a confessional, say Brooke and Scott are each other’s worst enemies.

Matt and Redmond arrive at the Roadblock, and Redmond chooses to do the sport stacking task. Back at the kimchi task, they all fail on their first attempt. However, they all fix their mistakes, and Tara and Joey complete the task first. They get their next clue, and they learn they must proceed to Seoul OGN e-Stadium. London and Logan complete the task second, and Brooke and Scott complete the task third. Back at the Roadblock, Redmond is struggling completing the task in under seven seconds, but he eventually completes it. He and Matt can now finally go to the kimchi task at Mugyewon Arts & Cultrual Center.

Meanwhile, Brooke and Scott and London and Logan manage to pass Tara and Joey in their taxis, but they all arrive at the Seoul OGN e-Stadium at the same time. They learn they have another Roadblock to complete. They must play Street Fighter 5 against a professional video game player. The person who did not do the sport stacking Roadblock must do this one, meaning Scott, London, and Tara are doing the video game Roadblock.

They get started on the video game Roadblock, and all of them struggle with the task. They each compete simultaneously with a professional gamer, and they all lose multiple rounds. Eventually, they get an advantage as the gamers must play with one hand behind their backs. London almost beats her opponent, but Scott and Tara are still struggling. Meanwhile, Matt and Redmond finally arrive at the kimchi task, and they realize all the other teams have come and gone.

After 20 rounds of the game, the professional gamers must now play blindfolded. London finally wins a game, and she is the first to win. But shortly afterwards, Scott wins too. It’s now a close race between London and Logan and Brooke and Scott for first place as they make their way to the Pit Stop: Gavit Some. Tara is still struggling though. Despite her opponent being blindfolded, she loses again. Back at the kimchi task, Matt and Redmond finally complete the task, and they can make their way to the video game task. After Tara has played 31 rounds, Matt and Redmond arrive with Matt doing the task. Tara is extremely annoyed and continually reiterates how much she despises video games. Joey, as he watching from the audience, calls Tara’s opponent an egotist for not just letting Tara win.

Neither London and Logan nor Brooke and Scott have won a leg of the race, but one of these teams is about to. We see both teams arrive at the location of the Pit Stop, and Brooke and Scott arrive at the Pit Stop mat first. Brooke and Scott are Team #1! While Brooke and Scott are still on the mat, London and Logan arrive as Team #2. Both teams are very excited to be one of the three teams racing in the final leg for the million dollars.

Tara finally beats her opponent, and she and Joey can now make their way to the Pit Stop. Tara calls her opponent a “punk” and Joey calls him a “little bastard” as they leave…just because he was a tough opponent that wouldn’t let Tara win. Shortly afterwards, Matt beats his opponent, and he and Redmond can now make their way to the Pit Stop.

Both teams make their way to the Pit Stop, and Tara and Joey arrive while Brooke and Scott and London and Logan are still there. Tara and Joey are Team #3. Shortly afterwards, with all the other teams still there, Matt and Redmond arrive last. Matt and Redmond have been eliminated from the race. They’re disappointed, but grateful for the experience.
