Survivor Season 40 Winners at War Week 10 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Winners at War airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

It’s Day 24 and time for a challenge. The castaways greet Jeff on the beach, and he lets them know their loves ones are here to see them. One by one the castaways greet their loved ones, including Kim’s husband and three kids, Ben’s wife and two kids, Sophie’s fiancé, Sarah’s partner and son, Denise’s husband and daughter, Nick’s fiancé, Tony’s wife and two kids, Michele’s sister, Tyson’s wife and one of their daughters, and Jeremy’s wife and four kids. The castaways are all emotional reuniting with their loved ones. They tearfully tell Jeff how much their family means to them. Afterwards, Jeff reveals that there will not be a challenge today. Despite an obstacle course challenge set in front of them, all of them will get to go back to camp and enjoy time with their loved ones.

Ben calls today the biggest blindside in Survivor history since none of them expected a family visit today. Sarah says it felt like everybody put their guns down for the day. Tyson says it was special to see all the kids, and he’s glad they all got that moment. Meanwhile, on the Edge of Extinction, the castaways see a boat approaching their camp. They fear it’s something bad, but they are stunned when they see it’s their family. They rush out to greet them, and they are filled with emotion. Among the loved ones are children, spouses, siblings, and parents. Amber says that everyone was so happy and forgot about the suffering they’ve been enduring. Parvati met her husband because of Survivor, and she’s glad to have a loved one’s visit despite already being voted out of the game. Adam has a heart-to-heart conversation with his father, and he tells Adam that his mom would be proud of him. Ethan tells his wife he doesn’t want to be away from her again. Rob says he’s glad his kids gets to see what he and Amber have been doing over a span of 20 years.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must stack a block on an unsteady table one at a time. The blocks must spell out “immunity,” and they must steady the table with a rope in their other hand. They must walk back and forth to retrieve a letter block and then stack letters without dropping the blocks. If the letters fall, then they must start over. The challenge begins, and Tony and Kim take an early lead. However, Kim drops her blocks after stacking six letters. She must start over. Tony is now in the lead, but Tyson, Nick, and Ben are not too far behind him. Tyson ends up dropping his blocks next, and he’s followed by Nick. Everyone else is too far behind. It’s now down between Tony and Ben for immunity. They each have all their blocks spelling “immunity” on their tables, and they can make their way back to the start to claim immunity. They are walking back slowly to not drop their letters, but it is Ben who drops his letters. He must start over, but it’s too late. Tony makes his way back to the start after stacking all his letters first. Tony wins immunity! He also wins two fire tokens.

They tribe returns to camp, and they congratulate Tony on winning immunity. This is the first time Tony has won immunity the three times he’s played the game. People approach Tony to talk game, and Jeremy suggests voting out Sarah. Tony shoots that down, and Jeremy is bothered by it. He sees Tony and Sarah as being too close, and he wants to break that up. Later, Sarah tells Tony that Kim needs to go, but Tony does not want to send Kim home. Sarah starts arguing with him, and she thinks it’s going to end badly if they can’t get on the same page. Later, Tony tells Nick and Ben that the three of them, Sophie, and Sarah should blindside Jeremy tonight. Nick and Ben are completely on board. Meanwhile, Kim tells Jeremy and Tyson they have no friends, and they are the targets. She wants to work with them to try to get control of the game. Tyson adds that Denise and Michele could be in their group. Kim suggests voting out Sophie, and Kim even tells them she has an idol. Meanwhile, Sarah is upset they changed the vote again. However, she is on board with voting out Jeremy after Tony tells Sarah that Jeremy was saying Sarah and Sophie need to be broken up. Meanwhile, Jeremy tells Tyson about his advantage. Jeremy can leave tribal council and return to camp without getting voted out, but he also won’t be able to cast a vote. Tyson says they need Jeremy’s vote for their plan to work tonight, so Jeremy is torn what to do. In addition, Sophie wants Sarah to use her steal-a-vote advantage tonight. She doesn’t want to risk a tie vote, and she’d feel better if Sarah used her advantage.

It’s time for tribal council, and right away the whispering starts as soon as they sit down. Tony says he’s glad he’s the only one with a bulletproof vest on tonight with his immunity necklace. We see various castaways sit back down after reconfirming plans with each other. Jeff asks why does this keep happening, and Kim says they feel paranoid. Jeremy says this season is on steroids with all the returning winners. He calls it madness. Jeff asks if there is anything left unsaid, and Jeremy speaks up. Sarah interrupts, but Jeremy tells her to go ahead. They are both about to play their advantage, but neither of them wants to use their advantage first. Sarah says she’s good, but Jeremy stands up and plays his advantage. Jeff explains the advantage to everyone else. He tells them it’s a safety without power advantage. Jeremy is safe since he can leave tribal council and return to camp, but he has no power since he will not be able to cast a vote. After Jeremy leaves, Ben says “What the hell do we do now?” More whispering commences, but Sophie candidly tells her group that they should just stand together at the corner and come up with a plan. On the outs of this group are Kim, Denise, Tyson, and Michele. The jury watching note how Jeremy abandoned his group since it was clear they were counting on his vote. Kim tells Denise, Tyson, and Michele that she thinks she knows how they are going to vote. After Sophie’s group sits back down, Sarah uses her steal-a-vote advantage against Denise. Denise will not vote, and Sarah will get to vote twice. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Kim plays her hidden immunity idol on Denise.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Tyson is the twelfth person voted out of Survivor: Winners at War. Kim apologizes to Tyson, regretting who she used her idol on as she almost pulled off a move. Tyson walks away from tribal council. Since Tyson has no fire tokens, he does not bequeath any on his way back to the Edge of Extinction.
