Survivor 31 Second Chance – Week 10 & 11 Live Blog

A special two hour edition of Survivor: Second Chance airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

Tonight there will be two episodes of Survivor: Second Chance. Ten castaways remain, but there will only be eight by the end of the night. Which two will be the next to join the jury? Let’s find out!

After tribal council, Jeremy works on damage control and tries to make amends with Tasha. Tasha seems forgiving since the game is about voting blocks this season, but she says in her confessional that she won’t forgive Jeremy if he keeps her out of the loop next time. Jeremy also says in his confessional that he thinks he can go back to the alliance he just blindsided to take Ciera out. Joe, however, is very upset. Wiglesworth was one of his closest allies and he’s angry with Jeremy, Spencer, and Stephen for voting her out. He believes it’s even more imperative for him to continue winning immunity to stay alive in the game.

The next day, it’s pouring down rain and the castaways are miserable. Ciera is worried that the rain is preventing her from having strategic conversations with people. Keith admits that the rain isn’t fun, but he’ll sit in the rain for fifty days if he has to if it means winning a million dollars.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be split into two teams of five. They will have to battle the other team for a ball and shoot it into a basket. It’s a brutal challenge as the teams tackle and hold each other down as they fight for the ball. The first team to score three points will win reward. After a schoolyard pick, these are the two teams:

Green Team: Wentworth, Kimmi, Stephen, Jeremy, and Keith

Purple Team: Tasha, Abi, Joe, Ciera, and Spencer

Round 1: Jeremy, Wentworth, and Stephen vs Spencer, Joe, and Ciera. Jeremy scores a point for the Green Team.

Round 2: Kimmi, Wentworth, and Keith vs Tasha, Abi, and Joe. Joe scores a point for the Purple Team.

Round 3: Jeremy, Kimmi, and Stephen vs Joe, Ciera, and Spencer. Spencer scores a point for the Purple Team.

Round 4: Joe, Abi, and Tasha vs Jeremy, Wentworth, and Kimmi, Tasha scores a point for the Purple Team. Purple Team wins reward!

At the reward, they enjoy a meal with some entertainment provided by the Cambodian residents. Ciera breaks down in tears after seeing the small children present. She misses her family, but she puts her game face back on and talks strategy. She brings up the idea of voting out Stephen due to him having an advantage. They all seem to agree. Joe says he is on board too since he wants Stephen out, but he’s hesitant since he knows they are targeting him.

Back at camp, the other five are miserable as they’re sitting in the rain. They also talk game and agree that Joe needs to go. They say Joe is playing everyone while putting a bigger target on his back by winning all the individual immunity challenges so far. Stephen is happy to hear them all say they want Joe out since he’s been gunning for him since the beginning.

Later in the evening, Stephen begins to break down due to the heavy downpour of rain. He’s not sure how much more of the harsh weather he can endure, but tearfully says he refuses to quit. Jeremy is worried about Stephen too. He notices how beaten down Stephen is, but he needs Stephen to stay since he sees Stephen as being very loyal to him. He thinks everything will be better if they could just have one day of dry weather.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. Once they arrive, Jeff hands them all a black and white rock. He then explains the challenge, which is another balancing challenge. He also discusses the harsh rain before telling them a construction crew is ready to redo their shelter (waterproof the roof and put the fire in center). But five people have to sit out of the challenge in order for their shelter to improve. The white rock means sitting out for the benefit of the tribe. The black rock means competing for immunity. They all hold their chosen rock in the palm of their hands and hold out their arms. Once Jeff says so, they reveal their choice.

White Rock – Abi, Ciera, Jeremy, Kimmi, Spencer, Stephen, Tasha, and Wentworth

Black Rock – Joe and Keith

Only Joe and Keith will compete for immunity. The two will have to balance while holding a ball against a wooden beam above their heads. After a few tense minutes, Keith falls. Joe wins immunity again!

After the immunity challenge, they’re all delighted by their new shelter before they talk strategy. Kimmi and Stephen wants Ciera out while Ciera and Joe want Stephen out. Ciera and Wentworth plan to write Kimmi if Stephen plays his advantage. Tasha and Spencer talk game too. Tasha is worried Ciera has too much power since she’s now suddenly calling the shots of who goes home. She wants Ciera gone, but Spencer would rather see Stephen go. He sees Stephen as more dangerous, especially due to his advantage. Joe is torn between Stephen and Ciera, but seems to be leaning toward Stephen. However, Jeremy is protecting Stephen. He pushes for Ciera to go instead, but Spencer really wants Stephen gone. The two of them are not on the same page going into tribal council.

It’s time for tribal council. They first talk about the weather before Jeff mentions how eight people volunteered to sit out of immunity. Ciera says she was willing to give up for the team, but was unsure if other people were. Tasha wondered who was selfish and unselfish. Joe calls her out and says that if he didn’t win immunity, he would be voted out. There is talk about the vote and it is alluded that Keith is safe tonight. Therefore, there will be a blindside and someone who sat out of immunity will be voted out.

It’s time for the vote. We see Abi vote for Stephen, but did everyone else agree to vote him out or is Ciera getting voted out instead?

Before Jeff reads the votes, Jeremy plays his hidden immunity idol for Stephen! Jeff then tallies the votes. The first vote is for…

Ciera is voted out and the fourth member of the jury.

After tribal council, the tribe reacts to Jeremy’s idol play. Stephen is very grateful that Jeremy saved his life. Jeremy also works on damage control with Spencer and says that he would’ve done the same for him. However, Spencer says in his confessional that he feels like he’s being lied to and he’s ready to jump ship.

The next morning, Stephen feels uneasy about being out of the loop last night. He and Kimmi discuss how they couldn’t believe they didn’t have the votes to take out Ciera.

It’s time for the reward challenge. Jeff will tell them a story about a Cambodian leader and then they will have to answer questions about the story correctly. They will race through the jungle to collect wrapped medallions to answer the questions. They will have to race back after each question to their station and unwrap the medallion they chose. If they answered correctly, they will have a gold medallion. Incorrect answers will result in a wooden medallion. The first to answer each question correctly will win reward.

Spencer takes an early lead with four correct answers, but Stephen and Jeremy are close behind. While choosing medallions, Wentworth luckily picks the one with a hidden immunity idol clue. Spencer only needs one more correct answer to win, but he gets the last question incorrect. He and Stephen are tied at the moment and whoever answers correctly first will win. Only by a matter of seconds, Stephen gets his gold medallion on his stand before Spencer does. Stephen wins reward! He gets to choose someone to go on the reward with him. He chooses Tasha. This causes surprised reactions from Jeremy and Spencer. Jeff then tells Stephen he can pick one more person, and Stephen chooses Jeremy. In his confessional, Spencer says he now believes that Stephen, Jeremy, and Tasha are a tight trio and closer to one another than they are to him. He thinks he needs to flip and join a different group.

Later in the evening back at camp, Wentworth reads her idol clue. She is unable to find the idol underneath the shelter, but plans to look in the morning when there are less people present due to three people out enjoying a reward.

At the reward, Stephen, Tasha, and Jeremy enjoy a meal at a resort. Stephen also plans to use the time to make amends with Tasha since she wrote his name down at the last tribal council. To help build trust, he tells them his advantage: he can steal someone’s vote at tribal council. They all also agree that Joe needs to be voted out as soon as he doesn’t win immunity.

Back at camp, they all discuss how tight Jeremy, Stephen, and Tasha are. Spencer brings up that from that trio, Stephen should be voted out since he has an advantage. Abi, however, is bothered by this plan since she feels like Joe and Spencer are playing her. She doesn’t know if she can trust them. Meanwhile, while Joe, Kimmi, and Spencer go fishing, Wentworth plans to retrieve the hidden immunity idol from underneath the shelter. However, Abi is still hanging around the camp and she is just waiting for her to leave the area so she can get the idol. Abi finally goes to lie in the hammock, allowing Wentworth to retrieve the hidden immunity idol! It was a close call as Joe, Spencer, and Kimmi return to camp seconds after she grabbed the idol.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must stack blocks and place a flag in the center of their structure. However, they are only allowed to use their feet. The challenge begins, and everyone gets a quick start except for Stephen. Wentworth is in the lead, but Joe is right behind. Spencer and Keith are doing well too. The challenge will likely come down between Wentworth, Joe, Spencer, and Keith. Soon it’s a showdown between Spencer and Joe. Spencer takes the lead and he just needs to place his flag in the center before Joe finishes stacking his last row of blocks. And he does! Spencer wins immunity!

After the immunity challenge, everyone congratulates Spencer for winning immunity. In his confessional, Stephen mentions how this is the first time Joe has been eligible to be voted out at tribal council. Before he won the individual immunity challenges, he was always on a winning tribe. When Joe walks away from the shelter, Stephen candidly tells everyone Joe should leave. They say they are on board, but Spencer and Wentworth have a different plan in mind. They want to blindside Stephen. They assure Joe that he will be safe tonight. Meanwhile, Stephen tells Abi to vote out Joe, but Abi feels uneasy when she sees Joe and Stephen talking. She doesn’t trust Joe at all. Wentworth and Spencer try to reassure Abi that the plan to vote out Stephen is in play. Abi still doesn’t think she can trust anyone.

Stephen also feels uneasy with possible hidden immunity idols coming up in tribal council. In case Joe has an idol, he wants to make sure Abi would leave instead. He then tells Spencer that he will be playing his advantage. He also reveals to Spencer his advantage. Spencer realizes this advantage could ruin the plan since five votes are needed to vote out Stephen. However, Stephen also tells him they will be splitting the vote with either Joe or Abi leaving tonight.

It’s time for tribal council. There is a discussion of a lack of trust since everyone who has been voted out thus far has been blindsided. Tasha talks about the importance of an alliance and only having voting blocks isn’t very effective. Wentworth then says there is an alliance since Stephen picked Tasha and Jeremy to join him on the reward. Spencer discusses the unpredictability of the game due to hidden immunity idols and unknown advantages. Stephen and Tasha don’t believe there will be a blindside tonight. Before the vote, Stephen plays his advantage and steals Joe’s vote!

It’s time for the vote. We see Stephen vote for Abi and Joe.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Joe

Abi

Stephen

Joe

Abi

Stephen is voted out and the fifth member of the jury. He gives kudos to everyone for a good blindside before getting his torch snuffed. Jeff then remarks that the only predictable thing about this game is its unpredictability.

And that wraps up tonight’s episodes of Survivor: Second Chance. Thanks for reading, post your thoughts on the episode in the comments section below, and come back next week for another live recap!
