So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Top 10 Performance

Fantastic show tonight! Who to cut? It’s going to be really hard. If I had to pick, I’m going with Noell and Ryan. And there will be many tears as Ashleigh says goodbye to her husband.

Major calling out of crap choreography. I don’t think I’ve seen the judges so forceful in that regard. Did you catch the look on Dave Scott’s face when Nigel dissed his routine? Melanie LaPatin was throwing some eye daggers when Nigel criticized her Rumba.

My favorite dance tonight was Ellenore and Jakob’s fabulous Sonya Tayeh contemporary routine. Second favorite was Ashleigh and Legacy’s fierce Gary Stuart contemporary routine.

And I wonder if Nathan is going to break, or gather himself up and keep dancing, despite Nigel’s harsh criticism? Luckily, Adam has a soft spot for him…

Recap and Videos after the JUMP…

President Obama’s speech is first! See you at 8:30.

Here we go finally… For the first time, America’s votes determine who goes home this week. The old couples are split up and every dancer will perform a solo

Noell and Ryan – Hip Hop by Tabitha & Napoleon – “Give it To Me Right” by Melanie Fiona – Abrupt! No video packages. Routine revolves around office politics. Both dancers are pretty hard hitting. Nigel says, “Noell, you certainly were sexy this week…Ryan you did everything strongly…you weren’t feeling the funk of it…good chemistry.” Mary says, “Great chemistry…great material. Noell, you seemed like a different dancer tonight. Ryan…you had it all going on…great partnership.” Adam says, “Noell you were smoking…find a way to dance from that guttural place…Ryan a great moment on the show.” – VIDEO

Ashleigh and Legacy – Contemporary ‘ Gary Stuart – “Poison” by the Prodigy – An incredibly athletic routine, with the dancers hitting and kicking, and jumping off each other. the routine ends with a Legacy headstand. Nigel says, “You have just been physically abused by your choreographer! An impossible style to try and learn…I thought the effort was absolutely fantastic…congratulations.” Mary says, “Wow…that routine was terrific. It took a lot of athletics to get through this routine. There were so many great moments…congrats.” Adam says, “You guys didn’t look afraid…that was fabulous…the best ending moment of any routine we’ve had this season.” – VIDEO

Mollee – The video packages are here, during the solos. “Rock the Beat” by LM*AO – 1-888-836-7601VIDEO

Russell – “Outros” by Black Milk – Wow. Terrific solo… – 1-888-836-7602VIDEO

Kathryn and Nathan – Broadway by Spencer Liff – “Choreography” by Danny Kaye – Nigel says, “I thought you both found that style perfectly…tremendous…Kathryn you are also a beautiful dancer…but your chemistry was a little isolated from Nathan…but absolutely terrific.” Mary says, “Kathryn you were marvelous in this number. You make it look effortless. Nathan…no trouble here!” Adam says, “You guys did a great job in giving us a beautiful history lesson…Nathan, you came out and you were really confident…I was so relieved…Kathryn brought a little maturity out of you.” Nathan looked a little scared up there! – VIDEO

Noell – “Every Time It Rains” by Charlotte Martin – 1-888-836-7603VIDEO

Ellenore and Jakob – Quickstep by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin – “Four Brothers” by Manhattan Transfer – I am such an Ellenore stan! I love her! Both acquit themselves very well with this very difficult dance. Nigel gives the pair some technical pointers, but felt they were both very good and very comfortable together. Mary says, “they gave you some tough stuff…big congrats to you…wonderful.” Adam explains the convoluted partnering, then, “You guys are so fantastic…you are the couple I’ve wanted to see all season.” Mary and Adam argue a little. Adam doesn’t care about their feet! – VIDEO

Ryan – “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions – 1-888-836-7604VIDEO

Kathryn – “Beautiful” by Bethany Dillon – 1-888-836-7605VIDEO

Mollee and Russell – Lyrical Jazz by Mandy Moore – “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette – Russell is just tremendous! He’s bringing the best out of young Mollee, who does have a lot of potential. Nigel says, “Absolutely beautiful choreography…you Mollee have grown in a week…the maturity in your work has come out…Russell…I’m about as proud of you as your dad is…as a Krumper…you are moving like a contemp dancer.” Mary says, “I love this partnership! Talk about chemistry. Everything was so believable. Mollee you trusted him completely…Russell comes through every single time…both of you are my fav couple tonight.” Adam says, “I’m so pleased…Russell you are as fierce and hard-hitting a krumper, then you switch gears and become an extraordinary partner…Mollee that shakeup last week worked for you…you shone…I couldn’t be more proud.” – VIDEO

Noelle and Ryan – Smooth Waltz by JT Thomas and Tomas Mielnicki – “Jeux d’eau O (Cirque du Soleil sountrack) – “Very beautiful…ryan you’ve got wonderful open carriage…I would love to see a little more softness in your neck, Noell…terrific.” Mary says, “they mastered both for me…Noell you were breathtaking…Ryan you just dominated that whole thing in the right way…it seemed effortless.” Adam says, “I found myself breathing with you…it was that good. I think that this is a power partnership.” – VIDEO

Ellenore – “Beatbox Harmonica” by Yuri Lane – Wow! That was terrific. So quirky and fabulous! 1-888-836-7607VIDEO

Ashleigh and Legacy – Hip Hop by Dave Scott – “Slow Down” by Bobby Valentino – Legacy is wearing a stupid cape. There’s hardly any hip hop in this routine. Pretty boring. Nigel says, “I didn’t feel it…there wasn’t enough dancing in there for me…you can only do what you’re asked to do.” Nigel hates the choreo. Dave looks upset. Mary says, “No, it really didn’t work for me either…this didn’t work for you.” Adam says, “It wasn’t challenging enough at this point in the competition…I hope they pick up the phones for you.” – VIDEO

Kathryn and Nathan – Rumba by Tony Meredith and Melanie La Patin – “Walk on By” by Aretha Franklin – I liked this better than the judges did. I saw chemistry, but maybe that’s just me. Maybe Nathan was pulling some weird faces, but it didn’t bug me. Nigel says, “Be careful with your chemistry…but we failed to get the chemistry if you keep a sour face Nathan…it was like a pas de deux…it was danced well for what they were given to do.” Mary says, “Chemistry was not believable…Nathan, your rumba back walks…not easy to do…some awkward moments. Kathryn…you were able to capture those moments…will I stand up and cheer? No…mixed review…tough dance.” Adam says, “Nathan you are a very polarizing contestant on this show…it’s been very bumpy for you…Kathryn what I loved…you were dancing like you were competing…good job.” Calling out the choreographers again! – VIDEO

Legacy – “No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown – 1-888-836-7608VIDEO

Ellenore and Jakob – Contemporary by Sonya Tayeh – “Tore My Heart” by Oona and Dave Tweedie – OMG so much awesomeness. Ellenore + Jakob + Sonya = LOVE. Perfect. Quirky and wonderful. Nigel says, “WOOOOOW. Everybody needs to come up to this level…incredible chemistry together and with your choreography, Sonya. This REALLY is my favorite routine of the season…absolutely different class.” Mary says, “You guys are like the new dream team…you guys delivered and then some. Jakob you are one of the best dancers in this competition…it was great.” Adam says, “This was like the sequel to the Garden to me…a big moment for this show.” Standing O from the judges. – VIDEO

Ashleigh – “Batucada Por Favor” by Bob Azzam – 1-888-836-7609VIDEO

Mollee and Russell – Jive by Anya and Pasha – “Land of 1000 Dances” by Jimmy Barnes – Fun dance. Not feeling it as much as their first routine. – Nigel says, “You are such good performers…really good dancers…you are a fun couple. Mollee you’re terrific.” Mary says, “We got two hot tamales right in front of me…so much fun…you guys brought it to life…a great partership.” Adam says, “I am feeling so good about this pairing…playful…chemistry…respect…great give and take…Mollee you are so back.” – VIDEO
