So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Top 10 Performance

Fantastic show tonight! Who to cut? It’s going to be really hard. If I had to pick, I’m going with Noell and Ryan. And there will be many tears as Ashleigh says goodbye to her husband.

Major calling out of crap choreography. I don’t think I’ve seen the judges so forceful in that regard. Did you catch the look on Dave Scott’s face when Nigel dissed his routine? Melanie LaPatin was throwing some eye daggers when Nigel criticized her Rumba.

My favorite dance tonight was Ellenore and Jakob’s fabulous Sonya Tayeh contemporary routine. Second favorite was Ashleigh and Legacy’s fierce Gary Stuart contemporary routine.

And I wonder if Nathan is going to break, or gather himself up and keep dancing, despite Nigel’s harsh criticism? Luckily, Adam has a soft spot for him…

Recap and Videos after the JUMP…

President Obama’s speech is first! See you at 8:30.

Here we go finally… For the first time, America’s votes determine who goes home this week. The old couples are split up and every dancer will perform a solo

Noell and Ryan – Hip Hop by Tabitha & Napoleon – “Give it To Me Right” by Melanie Fiona – Abrupt! No video packages. Routine revolves around office politics. Both dancers are pretty hard hitting. Nigel says, “Noell, you certainly were sexy this week…Ryan you did everything strongly…you weren’t feeling the funk of it…good chemistry.” Mary says, “Great chemistry…great material. Noell, you seemed like a different dancer tonight. Ryan…you had it all going on…great partnership.” Adam says, “Noell you were smoking…find a way to dance from that guttural place…Ryan a great moment on the show.” – VIDEO

Ashleigh and Legacy – Contemporary ‘ Gary Stuart – “Poison” by the Prodigy – An incredibly athletic routine, with the dancers hitting and kicking, and jumping off each other. the routine ends with a Legacy headstand. Nigel says, “You have just been physically abused by your choreographer! An impossible style to try and learn…I thought the effort was absolutely fantastic…congratulations.” Mary says, “Wow…that routine was terrific. It took a lot of athletics to get through this routine. There were so many great moments…congrats.” Adam says, “You guys didn’t look afraid…that was fabulous…the best ending moment of any routine we’ve had this season.” – VIDEO

Mollee – The video packages are here, during the solos. “Rock the Beat” by LM*AO – 1-888-836-7601VIDEO

Russell – “Outros” by Black Milk – Wow. Terrific solo… – 1-888-836-7602VIDEO

Kathryn and Nathan – Broadway by Spencer Liff – “Choreography” by Danny Kaye – Nigel says, “I thought you both found that style perfectly…tremendous…Kathryn you are also a beautiful dancer…but your chemistry was a little isolated from Nathan…but absolutely terrific.” Mary says, “Kathryn you were marvelous in this number. You make it look effortless. Nathan…no trouble here!” Adam says, “You guys did a great job in giving us a beautiful history lesson…Nathan, you came out and you were really confident…I was so relieved…Kathryn brought a little maturity out of you.” Nathan looked a little scared up there! – VIDEO

Noell – “Every Time It Rains” by Charlotte Martin – 1-888-836-7603VIDEO

Ellenore and Jakob – Quickstep by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin – “Four Brothers” by Manhattan Transfer – I am such an Ellenore stan! I love her! Both acquit themselves very well with this very difficult dance. Nigel gives the pair some technical pointers, but felt they were both very good and very comfortable together. Mary says, “they gave you some tough stuff…big congrats to you…wonderful.” Adam explains the convoluted partnering, then, “You guys are so fantastic…you are the couple I’ve wanted to see all season.” Mary and Adam argue a little. Adam doesn’t care about their feet! – VIDEO

Ryan – “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions – 1-888-836-7604VIDEO

Kathryn – “Beautiful” by Bethany Dillon – 1-888-836-7605VIDEO

Mollee and Russell – Lyrical Jazz by Mandy Moore – “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette – Russell is just tremendous! He’s bringing the best out of young Mollee, who does have a lot of potential. Nigel says, “Absolutely beautiful choreography…you Mollee have grown in a week…the maturity in your work has come out…Russell…I’m about as proud of you as your dad is…as a Krumper…you are moving like a contemp dancer.” Mary says, “I love this partnership! Talk about chemistry. Everything was so believable. Mollee you trusted him completely…Russell comes through every single time…both of you are my fav couple tonight.” Adam says, “I’m so pleased…Russell you are as fierce and hard-hitting a krumper, then you switch gears and become an extraordinary partner…Mollee that shakeup last week worked for you…you shone…I couldn’t be more proud.” – VIDEO

Nathan – “Golden Train” by Justin Nozuka – Aw, Nathan is crying! He appreciates his parents – 1-888-836-7606VIDEO

Noelle and Ryan – Smooth Waltz by JT Thomas and Tomas Mielnicki – “Jeux d’eau O (Cirque du Soleil sountrack) – “Very beautiful…ryan you’ve got wonderful open carriage…I would love to see a little more softness in your neck, Noell…terrific.” Mary says, “they mastered both for me…Noell you were breathtaking…Ryan you just dominated that whole thing in the right way…it seemed effortless.” Adam says, “I found myself breathing with you…it was that good. I think that this is a power partnership.” – VIDEO

Ellenore – “Beatbox Harmonica” by Yuri Lane – Wow! That was terrific. So quirky and fabulous! 1-888-836-7607VIDEO

Ashleigh and Legacy – Hip Hop by Dave Scott – “Slow Down” by Bobby Valentino – Legacy is wearing a stupid cape. There’s hardly any hip hop in this routine. Pretty boring. Nigel says, “I didn’t feel it…there wasn’t enough dancing in there for me…you can only do what you’re asked to do.” Nigel hates the choreo. Dave looks upset. Mary says, “No, it really didn’t work for me either…this didn’t work for you.” Adam says, “It wasn’t challenging enough at this point in the competition…I hope they pick up the phones for you.” – VIDEO

Kathryn and Nathan – Rumba by Tony Meredith and Melanie La Patin – “Walk on By” by Aretha Franklin – I liked this better than the judges did. I saw chemistry, but maybe that’s just me. Maybe Nathan was pulling some weird faces, but it didn’t bug me. Nigel says, “Be careful with your chemistry…but we failed to get the chemistry if you keep a sour face Nathan…it was like a pas de deux…it was danced well for what they were given to do.” Mary says, “Chemistry was not believable…Nathan, your rumba back walks…not easy to do…some awkward moments. Kathryn…you were able to capture those moments…will I stand up and cheer? No…mixed review…tough dance.” Adam says, “Nathan you are a very polarizing contestant on this show…it’s been very bumpy for you…Kathryn what I loved…you were dancing like you were competing…good job.” Calling out the choreographers again! – VIDEO

Legacy – “No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown – 1-888-836-7608VIDEO

Ellenore and Jakob – Contemporary by Sonya Tayeh – “Tore My Heart” by Oona and Dave Tweedie – OMG so much awesomeness. Ellenore + Jakob + Sonya = LOVE. Perfect. Quirky and wonderful. Nigel says, “WOOOOOW. Everybody needs to come up to this level…incredible chemistry together and with your choreography, Sonya. This REALLY is my favorite routine of the season…absolutely different class.” Mary says, “You guys are like the new dream team…you guys delivered and then some. Jakob you are one of the best dancers in this competition…it was great.” Adam says, “This was like the sequel to the Garden to me…a big moment for this show.” Standing O from the judges. – VIDEO

Ashleigh – “Batucada Por Favor” by Bob Azzam – 1-888-836-7609VIDEO

Mollee and Russell – Jive by Anya and Pasha – “Land of 1000 Dances” by Jimmy Barnes – Fun dance. Not feeling it as much as their first routine. – Nigel says, “You are such good performers…really good dancers…you are a fun couple. Mollee you’re terrific.” Mary says, “We got two hot tamales right in front of me…so much fun…you guys brought it to life…a great partership.” Adam says, “I am feeling so good about this pairing…playful…chemistry…respect…great give and take…Mollee you are so back.” – VIDEO

Jakob – “Always Midnight (acoustic)” by Pat Monahan – 1-888-836-7610VIDEO

  1. I can’t say I enjoyed that much… I thought the choreography was terribly so-so. Noelle was the star of the routine here, though Ryan wasn’t bad.

And no intro packages? Aw, geez…

  2. Ok now we know why there is no intro packages. They are going to be doing back stories on all the dancers. Mollee’s already got me a little chocked up so I am sure before the night is out tears will be coming down. Jeez.

Really liked Ryan and Noelle’s routine. Legacy and Ashley’s routine very intense and athletic. I give Legacy props but next to Ashley’s you really see how untrained he is in dance. I am sure his solo will be great tonight but I just think he has been getting too many styles that is in his wheel. Lets see him do a quick step or fox trot. (the one time he did do a ballroom dance he was praised even though he was terrible)

Mollee solo-I can’t put my finger on it she did everything right but still something is missing.

Russel unique style and very hard hitting. liked it!

  3. I really liked the Ashleigh/Legacy contemporary… but geez, just watching it made me tired!

And the Nathan/Kathryn broadway… LOVED IT. It’s easily my favorite so far; I think both of them captured the spirit of the music, style, and era incredibly well (especially Nathan!).

I liked both of the solos, though Russell’s was clearly more impressive.

  4. Nathan and Kathryn Broadway- that is one of the best Broadway numbers they have had on this show in a long long time. Nathan was the star of that routine. Kathryn was good but Nathan was phenomenal.

  5. I like everyone in this TopTen, I think it is one of the better years. No one should be going home, its sad.

  6. I loved Nathan and Kathryn but I feel so uncomfortable for him whenever he’s in front of the judges….also didn’t really like how he kept trying to look at Kathryn and turn her face toward him when she wasn’t looking at him. It just seemed kind of immature and annoying. Disliked Ashleigh and Legacy contemp routine…sure it was very physical, but just didn’t do it for me. Love Jakob and Ellenore…they will be a fun couple to watch!

  7. So surprised by Mollee! I didn’t even recognize her, but I think she is going to do a lot better with Russell. Still wish Karen was here instead of her though.

    Hmm, nathan’s solo pretty terrible.

  8. Jacob and Elenore- The quick step is not my favorite dance but these two made it bearable shows how really good they are.

    Kathryn solo good not great

Mollee and Russel-good job- Mollee surprised me- amazing. Russell very good for someone who is not a trained dancer. (better then Legacy IMHO)

I have to agree that these partnerships seem to be better then before-

I think this is the best top 10 at this point. Hard to guess who is going home. I agree Miss Chaos-I want the all to stay.

  9. Broadway was my favorite so far, Kathryn brought the best from Nathan.

Russell very good for someone who is not a trained dancer. (better then Legacy IMHO)

Russell is trained in modern, tap and jazz. The fact that the judges don’t mention that makes me mad.

  10. Absolutely loved Nathans solo. He evokes so much passion in his dance. I hope he stays and gets to dance a contemporary dance sometime soon. Damn him my first tear came down with his video package and his homage to his family. I hope he stays.

  11. Nathan is falling apart before our very eyes! Whats wrong with him? And I jsut LOVE LOVE Russell and Mollee!!!!!!!

You know I did not know that about him so maybe not so impressive as I thought originally. Thanks for the info

  13. LOL Ryan. The Scorpians. That almost made the big hair wearing 15 year old in me vote for you.

So far, I like a lot of what I’ve seen tonight. Really tough to pick who might be going home.

  14. Favorite part of the show: American idol season 9 adds!!!

J/K I really like the show so far

  15. Ryan and Noell-Breath taking waltz. Fantasy Dreamlike routine. Ryan I think is the best supportive partner that has been on this show.

Legacy and Ashleigh-I agree not the best routine but it is Legacy’s style and I really thought Ashleigh was more hard hitting and put more into the routine. They are not the first to get a bad routine. It is what you make of it and Legacy did not impress. (Though I here is solo is suppose to be off the hook and he gets a standing ovation.)

Nathan and Kathryn-ok this one is opposite their first dance Kathryn was the star in this routine. Nathan was good but maybe too young for what was called for as far as the passion required. He danced well

Legacy Solo-very good but not worthy of a standing ovation IMHO I have seen much better solo’s in the past that did deserve Standing ovations. But it was very very good.

Oh and second tear thanks to Elenore’s video package. Jeez

  16. It’s a shame when the choreography holds back the dancers, rather than showcasing them, as was the case with Ashleigh and Legacy. His solo showed the mad skills he has in his style, but despite his growth, he’s still probably the weakest overall at this point.

I thought Nigel and Mary were a bit harsh with Kathryn and Nathan on that last number.

Ellenore for me is endlessly creative, quirky and fantastic no matter what she’s dancing. I’m so thrilled that she’s getting to dance with Jakob tonight. I’m not a fan of quickstep, but that was the best I’ve seen, and this Sonya number is great!

  17. Nathan and Kathryn Broadway- that is one of the best Broadway numbers they have had on this show in a long long time. Nathan was the star of that routine. Kathryn was good but Nathan was phenomenal.

I totally agree. Wow. And that happens to be one of my favorite dance movie moments, the trippiness of Fosse poking fun at where Fosse is going eventually, and of course Danny Kaye. What’s happened in the past with Tyce’s Broadways is that they always seemed like watered down rip offs of the original numbers, or almost parodies. During this Broadway, though, I could totally picture the Danny Kaye piece, yet I thoroughly enjoyed Nathan and Kathryn and a fresh take on it by Spencer. Spencer Liff is a keeper. And Nathan killed it. You go kiddo. Fabulous. I could smack Nigel tonight, btw. Between the unwarranted critiques and bringing back that whole stupid “wow, Russell, so good for a krumper, hard to believe how far you’ve progressed with no training” storyline that I seriously doubt anyone except the most gullible are buying into and really does Russell no favors, he’s just getting on my nerves. Plus, I noticed they switched the order with Nigel going first and Mary echoing him, which kind of silences Adam a little bit. Probably because Adam has been cutting through the B.S. this season.

Also, HOLY MUTHA OF ALL THATS JAKOB AND ELLENORE AND SONYA. Un…freakin….believable. OH. My. HELLLLL. Amazing. ~rewinds~ And helll yeah to Adam giving props to The Garden and calling this the sequel, cuz that’s what I was thinking. It was reminiscent, but yet not a carbon copy because The Garden played with Courtney and Mark’s unique individual energy, and this one brought out the Ellenoreness and Jakobness to their characters. If that makes sense. This is really the season of Sonya. I am loving Adam tonight btw, and so regret when I predicted that he’d be Nigel’s yes man. Go Adam.

Oh, and can I just say, who dances a rhumba in a turtleneck? Please. It’s kinda sad when they have wardrobe do the depimping for them. Same with the tumor of tulle on Ashleight’s shoulder and the stupid Count Chocula cape they gave Legacy.

I also don’t think Mollee has matured all that much. Guh, I think Russell and Mollee were totally overpraised for that Jive. Well not Russell. Mollee. Her footwork was crap. Sigh.

ETA: Favorite solos… Jakob (seriously, musicality plus technique plus just passion), Russell (liked the bit with the hood), Legacy (nice way to fight back), Ellenore (flove her) , and Ashleigh (impressive for ballroom!)

  18. The contemporary was great, but it was such an obvious setup that it didn’t completely enjoy that.

  19. Jacob and Ellenore-Spectacular!!! the only complaint I have is that this was obviously the best routine tonight (Broadway number was a close second IMHO) why do that have to go so overboard with the praise and pimping. I find it off putting. Not the dancers fault. I would hate people to think well they have it locked and then not vote for them.

Oh I agree with MJ I saw a lot of chemistry with Nathan and Kathryn’s routine. I think they want Nathan to go home next. Remember Nigel’s comment last week when the votes went against Nigel and Nathan was kept. Nathan seems so defeated and I think maybe that may cause him to go. Damn because I like him.

Molle and Russell- Mollee is really picking it up. I was not as impressed with the routine as the judges pretend to be. It was good not great

Jacob solo-He is probably the best dancer they have. When he dances its like music comes from him. His only weak point is when he is not dancing his personality is strange. (not the right word) or his does not come across as likable as he really is if that makes sense.

  20. Jakob has great extensions but his solo was bland to me.

Even tough they did nothing wrong, Noelle and Ryan are going home tomorrow,.They didn’t really get a fair chance tonight, their solos should have been the last ones because their partner dances were first.

  21. Russell is trained in modern, tap and jazz. The fact that the judges don’t mention that makes me mad.

Of course he is. There’s no way he could dance like that if he wasn’t trained. They pulled the same crap with Joshua Season 4.

  22. Of course he is. There’s no way he could dance like that if he wasn’t trained. They pulled the same crap with Joshua Season 4.

I remember that very well and he played into that whole I have had not training tag line. I have not really seen Russell do that but it sucks when they pretend no training had been done. It demeans dance as a whole and takes away from those who are said to be trained and people look at them like jeez they have had training and so and so is just as good without any.

  23. I also enjoyed Kathryn and Nathan’s Rumba! I don’t get what the judges were saying. I thought it was wonderful and very well executed!

  24. They have got to get rid of that stage! With the smaller and more intimate one they used until last year’s finale, the dancers stood out more, and the performances were more likely to come across as larger than life. With this new stage, the performances and dancers shrink.

  25. Rumba by Tony Meredith and Melanie La Patin ‘“ ‘Walk on By’ by Aretha Franklin ‘“ I liked this better than the judges did. I saw chemistry, but maybe that’s just me.

MJ, I so agree with you. This was one of my favorite routines of the night. They are a wonderful couple; Kathryn and Nathan DO have chemistry! She is my favorite dancer. I do believe something was going on emotionally for Nathan tonight, but that drew me in.

Russell hasn’t really impressed me throughout the show until tonight. I loved the Jive and his high energy. I do think Mollee’s ankle is still bothering her.

I look forward each week to see what Ryan will do. I would love to have seen him dance with Karen. For me, Kathryn fulfills what I want to see in a female dancer which leaves Noelle vulnerable for elimination.

  26. Hard to decide who is going home, as the weaker dances were the fault of the Choreographers. The only ones I think that are safe are Russell and Mollee, and Jacob and Ellenore. I liked Askleigh’s solo. Couldnt they have let Ryan and Ashleigh be partners once before one of them goes home? I am kinda worried for Nathan to go home tho, something was really off with him, maybe Simon, I mean Nigel brow beating on him?
But darn, I like all of them.

  27. Oh, and since I can’t edit, Nathan’s solo made me sniffly. That kid obviously likes to dance and has buckets of talent, and I hope the reality show stuff hasn’t taken the joy outta it, if you know what I mean.

Overall, if I muted Nigel and Mary, I really dug the show. Great group of dancers this season.

  28. Of course he is. There’s no way he could dance like that if he wasn’t trained. They pulled the same crap with Joshua Season 4.

If you read Russell’s profile – he says he started dancing at age 3, began dancing professionally at age 6 (whatever the heck that might mean) and this is Russell’s answer to “have you had formal training”:

5 years of formal training at Boston Art Academy High School

So, clearly, he’s not hiding anything. This is just Nigel’s spin.

  29. i missed karen who was the best female dancer.
noelle bores me to death– i just don’t understand what they found in her to begin with. i think she only lasted because of russel’s popularity.
i also liked nathan and kathryn together. i love nathan’s dance but i feel that after adam’s advice to him to be careful of what he says in the clips he decided to go Legacy and cry. unfortunately, it did not come across well and i simply did not believe him. it’s a shame– cuz he is a gorgeous young man and a great dancer.

  30. Poor Ryan is always left out, he remains in the background yet I think he deserves more praise then what he has received.

Molly didn’t mature at all, I noticed that she has a habit of pausing in between movements.

    Russel is ok, just overrated

Ashley is great but poor her getting the bad draw with Legacy.

Legacy is good at what he knows but other then that not much of a dancer. He would do well in maybe a musical play that is geared more towards theatrics.

Nolle, she is better than molly but she is lacking something.

Katheryn has shown more growth since I’ve been watching then anyone else.

Eleanore and Jacob are way advance and I think while it makes for a great show having them as partners does give a disadvantage to other dancers.

I think I would like to see Ashely and her husband pair up, could make out to be the top 4 and a pair that might give Jacob and Eleanore a close run.

Nathan has an attitude problem and it shows when he isn’t dancing! That is his biggest down fall and why I think Nigel wouldn’t mind seeing him go yesterday. I think Nigel tried to give him some sound advice but Nathan doesn’t get it. Even when he stands there after his number he looks so pissed off and depressed it pisses me off that he is standing there. He does have trouble doing lifts I’ve noticed also but has gotten better at them. Solo he is very good!

I have no favorites nor do I pick up the phone and vote. Just my opinion so sorry if my 2 cents offended anyone.

  31. I did enjoy Ashleigh/Legacy’s contemporary. Because of the uniqueness and fast moves, we may see this dance on the tour. With her package, I found Ashleigh to be very likeable. The girl can do Hip Hop.

Yes, I find Ellenore to be quirky and fun. SYTYCD needed this young lady for their tour. I know I should be more impressed with Jakob, but I prefer Ryan, Legacy, and Nathan.

I hope someione finds out what was going on with Nathan tonight, and if Mollee’s ankle was hurting. It is very hard to predict who will be going home because they all did so well. I enjoyed this evening!

  32. Jakob just leaves me cold. I know he is a fantastic dancer, but he just does not have star quality to me. Ryan, Ellenore, Kathryn, Legacy, and Russell on the other hand just have this inner glow when they dance. Kathryn especially is a star, I think she is better than Jeanine even (except for her solos) and I wish this was the season for a female winner.

  33. ^I couldn’t disagree more about Jakob. I think he has tremendous star quality, and it’s unusual to see such a natural performer combined with a crazy technician on this show, where they love the “cold technician” vs the “quirky good performer, weak technician” storyline. I mean, Ellenore being Ellenore, and Sonya being Sonya, Jakob could have been a pretty prop in that contemporary piece, but he brought that dark fabulous thing out of himself and almost stole it from Ellenore. Also, he’s got that quiet kind of quirky shyness that Mark had when he’s not dancing, whereas Ellenore is a fireplug, and it made for a great combo. Plus, his solo was just so joyful and passionate. That’s the way it is, though. You connect with who you connect with. Last season Brandon was popular and I thought he was awfully cloying and cheesy a lot of the time and danced on the surface emmotionally didn’t really enjoy watching him the way the majority did.

  34. That’s the way it is, though. You connect with who you connect with. Last season Brandon was popular and I thought he was awfully cloying and cheesy a lot of the time and danced on the surface emmotionally didn’t really enjoy watching him the way the majority did.

That is what I love about this show. I was just reading another board, and people were all over the place about who was their favorite. I think it demonstrates how talented this season is too that so many people have totally different favorites.

  35. Jakob is amazing. I’m voting to save Legacy and hoping that this is the week Nathan finally gets kicked off.

  36. Best of the night were Jakob, Ellenore + Sonya. Sheer Genius!
Worst…probably Legacy and Ashleigh. It was really apparent that their former partners carried them to this point, IMO.

I’m tired of Nigel dissing Nathan. He and Kathryn did great in both numbers. It was clear to me that Mollee dragged Nathan down in their partnership. She didn’t mature in her dancing at all as far as I was concerned…. same as usual. I wish Nigel would STFU about her becoming a woman. Seriously… not seeing it.

Also… my husband asked why Mollee was allowed to be on the show if she was already in HS Musical. He didn’t realize it before.

And I’m sooooo tired of the Legacy pimping. The dude is out of his league, IMO. All I saw in his solo was what looked like tripping over is feet. There was no musicality whatsoever. I think Quest Crew is on tomorrow and they’ll show him how it’s supposed to be done.

Russell’s solo was so good. Loved it.

But Jakob is top guy and Ellenore top girl for me. Nathan and Kathryn would round out my Top 4. The last 2 for Top 6 is a toss up… I think Ryan is technically more versatile than Russell, but I wouldn’t mind it if Russell made it. For the last girl’s spot…. well…. I can’t pick between Noelle and Ashleigh. Both are fodder for me.

If I could have my way Mollee and Legacy would definitely be going home tomorrow night.

  37. Jakob just leaves me cold. I know he is a fantastic dancer, but he just does not have star quality to me.

Ohhhh totally agree!!! There is no denying his technical brilliance, but that alone does not make you “America’s Favorite Dancer.” I don’t find him as devoid of personality as other past “favorites,” but I don’t find his personality nearly as inviting as many of the others.

My two favorites are Kathryn and Ryan. I often feel like Ryan gets lost in the shuffle a little, but I’m glad he at least made the tour. (Disclaimer: I think I only like Ryan because he’s hot, but whatever.)

Also, for the record, I really really really hate the new stage. It feels much less intimate and that’s one thing I always really appreciated about this show. I feel “excluded” from the show rather than a part of it, if that makes any kind of sense.

  38. If I could have my way Mollee and Legacy would definitely be going home tomorrow night.

may the dance gods hear this and grant our wish!!!!

man, i’m so upset. ryan is one of my favorites and i’m afraid he will be in the bottom 2. i’m hoping he pulls thru!

i love love love Ellenore! she was awesome tonight. ok maybe the quickstep wasn’t awesome but it was ok.

and poor nathan. he’s just sick of being picked on. you can tell from the look on his face. but i thought he danced really good tonight!

and i thought russell was great tonight. i loved the jive. he looked like he was really enjoying himself. did anyone else notice after the lyrical jazz when the judges were giving their opinions that russell was sweating up a storm and then all of a sudden he was dry?

i think the ones who will be going home are noelle & legacy, even though i want mollee gone.

  39. And I’m sooooo tired of the Legacy pimping. The dude is out of his league, IMO. All I saw in his solo was what looked like tripping over is feet. There was no musicality whatsoever. I think Quest Crew is on tomorrow and they’ll show him how it’s supposed to be done.

I love Quest Crew but Legacy is by far the most accomplished bboy the show has ever had.
He didn’t need the show to get recognition, he’s in the group called Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (that will perform tomorrow i think) along with some of the shows choreographers.

  40. If I could have my way Mollee and Legacy would definitely be going home tomorrow night.

Works for me. Although if I were basing it on individual dancers without the boys vs. girls restrictions, I’d probably miss Mollee and Noelle the least.

  41. Noell & Ryan- was that supposed to be hip hop? anywho…loved the waltz ;-)
Ashleigh & Legacy- The best thing about the 1st performance was the ENDING! The 2nd routine was just AWFUL!
Kathryn & Nathan- so far, the best Broadway routine of the season.
Ellenore & Jakob- PERFECTION! Nuff said
Russell & Mollee- really liked the 1st routine, but the 2nd one WOW!!! Mollee is so adorable this week…and I just love Russell to pieces!!

    Based on tonight’s couples performances–
I think Noelle, Ryan, Ashleigh, Legacy are in danger.

Based on Solo’s– Noelle & Ryan (I’d really hate to see Noelle leave tho)

Who should go home IMO Ashleigh & Nathan

BTW Russell has had some training in hip hop, jazz and tap I believe…but so what?!? training doesn’t always equal good QUALITY! AND HE IS A STAR!! It’s not all technical anyway…it’s about performance!!

  42. I love Quest Crew but Legacy is by far the most accomplished bboy the show has ever had.

Is this your first season watching? I totally disagree. Legacy has absolutely no performance skills whatsoever when he dances and his tricks are no better than previous BBoys. So that pretty much puts most, if not all, the BBoys from previous seasons above him IMO. I’d even put the BBoy from this last Canadian season above Legacy, and I really didn’t care that much for the guy.

he’s in the group called Legion of Extraordinary Dancers

Never heard of them. And frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if the others in the group are better than him. Actually, I would hope they are for the group’s sake.

I think that you don’t know what you’re talking about, the bboy world is full of dance competition and battles. Legacy is by far the one who has the most fame attached to his name.
Ryan, Dtrix, Hok and Gev are all good dancers but they would lose if they faced Legacy in a battle.

We’ll see how you find his group tomorrow.

  44. I hate the predetermined hatred for Mollee and Noelle. Last week, I thought Mollee’s solo was terrible, but this week, I can at least admit it was quite good and that yes, Russell did bring out the best in her and yes, she did seem more mature in her dancing. And Noelle can do no wrong in my eyes. If she goes, I’m going to go postal on some people’s asses.

  45. Wow, I think the producers should at least check the choreography before they saddle the dancers with bad dances.

If voting goes by overall dancing ability than it’s Legacy and Noelle’s turns to go IMO.

I love Ryan, Jacob, and Russel. I used to love Nathan, but he has to grow up. His dancing technique is great, but he is letting the criticism get to him too much. He needs to toughen up.

I love Ellenore! She better be the last female standing.

And, I would love to see Ashleigh and Ryan paired together before either of them leaves. We’ve only seen them do ballroom together. Would love to see them do a Sonja contemporary.

Kathryn is great, but I don’t find her very memorable.

This is a tough top 10 and they are all great dancers, but when you have 10 great dancers personality and likability become a factor.

I would not be upset if Mollee, Noelle, Legacy, or Nathan left tonight. They are all great, but someone has to go.

  46. I think that you don’t know what you’re talking about

Well I must not if I’m disagreeing with you.

We’ll see how you find his group tomorrow.

    You mean these people?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw2JAsaCso0

Sorry…. Nothing extraordinary going on there IMO – with the exception of the 2 guys in black doing martial arts moves. Some of their tricks were pretty impressive. But maybe it wasn’t one of the group’s better performances and they’ll do something better on the results show to change my mind. Kinda doubting it though… but I’ll give them a chance just for you. ;)

  47. Ohhhh totally agree!!! There is no denying his technical brilliance, but that alone does not make you ‘America’s Favorite Dancer.’ I don’t find him as devoid of personality as other past ‘favorites,’ but I don’t find his personality nearly as inviting as many of the others.

I’m with you on this. I see Jakob’s technical brilliance as well, but I just can’t bring myself to care about him.

Ellenore is fabulous, and she’s got a great personality. Her solo’s are always so creative. She’s very fun to watch. Kathryn and Ashleigh are nothing to sneeze at either. I think they’re both quite skilled. And actually, I think last night was pretty much Noelle’s best night so far. Mollee’s obviously got a lot of skills as well, she just also has a lot of growing up to do. But, I agree with the judges, she did bring herself to a whole new level in that Lyrical Jazz last night.

I’m very fond of Ryan and his hotness, and I think Russell is just plain great. He’s got amazing body control, an inherent trait that does make it easier to move from one style to the next with greater ease. Legacy’s still got the bad posture and crappy arm positioning, but there is just so much more to like about him.

I won’t be surprised to see anyone go home tonight. They’re all good in different ways – and I can see reasons for voting for any of them. I have no clue who’ll be in the bottom.

  48. My picks to go home are Legacy and Noelle. If they are to leave then we would get Ryan & Ashleigh together. Hope that happens!
I do not get the Legacy appeal. I much prefer D-trix & Hok to Legacy any day. D’s chair routine and chemistry with Sabra and Hok’s versatlity with the Hummingbird/Jaime pairing tops my list for bboys!

  49. I just don’t get Russell, I really don’t. He can “do” other styles but it doesn’t look effortless to me. With the exception of Hip Hop for Ryan (and that wasn’t really hip hop last night btw) I think Ryan is the one who does very well outside his own genre. And I thought his and Noelle’s waltz was stunningly beautiful, as I expected since he is ballroom. I love Legacy and the contemporary was sound but not inspiring. The Hip Hop horrible. Though Nigel called out the choreo for what it was it still seemed liked he was shooting Legacy and Ashliegh down for no good reason. I’m tiring of Nathan. Can it with the dramatics, kid. Glad that that you’re comfortable in your emotions but a little goes a long way. Now it looks like he’s going for the sympathy vote. Ugh. I agree with people on Jakob. Great dancer, amazing technical ability and zero warmth. If there is any Justice in the world Nathan will go home. (Probs Ryan though, all that buff talk in the early stages of the game probably hurt him.)

Noelle gained alot from having a strong partner. She could really follow Ryan’s lead and shine. I used to want her gone (especially after the whole ankle incident) and while I’m not ready to forgive her I think she’s worth another week. Mollee–okay am I the only one who thinks that she benefitted from the camera staying far far away from her face during her first dance? She has zero control over her facial expressions. She did better this week and ugh, probably beat out Katheryn. Katheryn without Legacy (or with Nathan maybe) just turned into a whole buncha blah. Ashliegh had a solid contemporary poor hip hop–see comments on Legacy. Ellenore was full of awesome tonight!

What is up with Sonya? Awesome stuff this season. Jazz or contemporary you can really see Sonya’s hand in the choreo this year. Stunning.

  50. Well I must not if I’m disagreeing with you.

I wasn’t trying to be snarky (altough you seem to like that), I really don’t think that you know what you’re talking about. But if you know more about HH culture and bboy dancing than Dominique spinning on his head, or the lyrical watered down version of HH that gets praised on SYTYCD then I apologize.

There are no individual rankings in the bboy community but there is reputation and fame recognition, Legacy has far more than any other bboy that did the show.
It doesn’t mean he’s a better contestant, you may find the others more versatile or that they have more personality, but as a bboy he is the best.

It is a similar case as the latin dancers, Anya is the queen because she participated in several world championships with Pasha and was ranked very high (higher than most DWTS pros) but you may prefer Lacey or Chelsie because of other factors.

  51. I just love Adam’s feedback. it’s always enlightening to me as a viewer, and he is kind. the judges on this show are so much better than in AI and Adam just tops them all.

  52. I seriously don’t know what is going on with this show. I love the Broadway routine. They both did fantastic. So entertaining. So All we hear is a nod to Fossey and a speech about the importance of this dance? They barely gave credit to the dancers. Legacy and Ashleigh sucked both times. Yet they get props for having to jump around alot? I am another one who doesn’t get the Legacy love, other than it being a heartstring pulling story. Being the best b boy means nothing to me in the context of this show.

I don’t know what is going on with Nathan but it is uncomfortable to watch. And that isn’t good for him.

Jakob is really something else, as is Ellenore. Wow.

My vote: Legacy goes and Ashleigh goes.

I agree, Adam S. is the best.

  53. I really hope Nathan goes home. Not because I think he deserves to, but because I can’t stand to see the judges break him down like they do. Even their compliments are backhanded (including Adam’s). If he is still there next week, I will watch him dance but I will fast forward over the judges comments. The way they treat him is ruining the show for me AND he is NOT even one of my favorite dancers.

Someone speculated a couple of weeks ago that Nathan’s work ethic or behavior behind the scenes must be problematic. At the time I thought that was a wild hypothesis, but I am starting to buy into it because I can’t think of any other reason to continually beat on him. They DID put him in the top 20, right?

  54. “I’m very fond of Ryan and his hotness, and I think Russell is just plain great. He’s got amazing body control, an inherent trait that does make it easier to move from one style to the next with greater ease. Legacy’s still got the bad posture and crappy arm positioning, but there is just so much more to like about him. ”

Ditto Spencer Ditto(add to that Ryans smiles all the time) ^^^^ but I do like Jacob – I really dont have a favorite just yet though

  55. I can’t think of any other reason to continually beat on him.

I’m guessing it went down like this: Mollee and Nathan weren’t living up to the title of Dream Team. Then Nathan made an offhand comment about feeling hawt that suggested youthful arrogance. There was some negativity coming Nathan’s way in response. At that point, maybe somebody thought playing up the Stern Uncle Nigel vs. Cocky Upstart Nathan thing made for compelling TV? Unfortunately, I think it’s been pretty painful to watch, and I think Adam Shankman probably agrees.

  56. Why do ppl want to factor “personality” into their judgment of these dancers? If they have technical ability, versatility, flow, expression, and interpretive skills to bring the choreography to life, then I don’t care what they are like off-stage.

Besides, we don’t treat dancers like stars – they earn neither fame nor money – the avg joe can name 2-3 dancers at best (hines, barishnikov) but can name 100s of singers, bands, and actors – so to put that additional expectation of “great personality” or “connectable” seems pointless.

Have Jakob or Eleanor done hip hop so far this season? Is there a site or page which lists each dancer and what styles they’ve done so far?

I love Ashleigh’s versatility. I wish Mary could have commented on Ashleigh’s solo, so that us non-ballroom types could know if that was technically a fabulous solo or not.

Ironically, I think Mollee affected Russell. He seemed a lot more playful, joyous, and boyish in his expressions when dancing with Mollee.

Loved the solos of Russell, Nathan, and Jakob. The ladies? Not so much. I dislike the typical contemporary-dance female solo, full of leg lifts and drops-to-the-floor but not much else. At least Eleanor keeps it interesting, though a bit redundant – she needs to mix it up a bit.

  57. Why do ppl want to factor ‘personality’ into their judgment of these dancers? If they have technical ability, versatility, flow, expression, and interpretive skills to bring the choreography to life, then I don’t care what they are like off-stage.

I couldn’t agree more. I hate that this(and other reality shows) turn into more or a popularity contest than a true contest of ability. While I understand that it is supposed to be America’s Favorite, and not America’s Best, that still should be judged on the dancing, not on anything else. I almost wish they wouldn’t do the video background packages – I hate to see someone pass through because they have a cute mom or are personable in interviews.

  58. Dial Idol has Nathan in last place for the guys! Woooohoooo! I hope, I hope, I hope. Mollee sucks, plain and simple. She’s going to bring Russell down. He is an amazing dancer and has grown so much.

  59. … I’ve noticed that all the female dancers have grown immensely except for one, MOLLEE. She is more a gymnast/acrobat than an actual dancer. A true dancer as a true singer can dance ANY genre. And Mollee was a big disappointment during her salsa routine and I didn’t care for her can-can last week nor her hip-hop. The judges have given her more praise and chance than she deserves. Dial Idol has Noelle in last place. What a shame, when it should be Mollee. Well, we’ll find out tonight if DI predictions are correct.

  60. Yes Nigel pushes the Russell storyline but I still love Russell. He is my favorite. I am sure they all have had other training along the way. I actually like Mollee better than most seem to. I think she grew leaps and bounds this week too. I like her much better than Noelle or Kathryn even though I do like them. I like Legacy although Russell has overtaken him for me. I think I just liked the idea of a breakdancer pulling it off. I am not so fond of Ryan. Nice ballroom dancer but no star quality imo. Jacob is fantastic. Does lack a little personality though. Nathan is very underrated by the judges imo.I thought his solo was perfection and the broadway number?? Fantastic. HE made that dance. The Rhumba may not have had enough Rhumba but I thought he did well there too. If I had it my way Ryan and Ashleigh will go. I would have thought Irena was in trouble but last night may have saved her. Noelle could be in trouble as well. Hope its not Nathan.

  61. At the time I thought that was a wild hypothesis, but I am starting to buy into it because I can’t think of any other reason to continually beat on him.

Oh I can think of two reasons. Nigel has an overweening ego and his own personal agenda. The back handed compliments are proof that Nigel’s agenda does not involve helping Nathan become a better dancer. It involves Russell and Jakob making it into the final four because they are his favorites. That much is painfully obvious.

  62. Jakob, Kathryn and Ellenore were on top of their game last nite, they should be safe.

Legacy, Russell have enough fans to keep them in for this week. I thought they were inconsistent, good on one routine, okay on the other….their solos will provoke fans to vote.

In danger: Ryan and Noelle, performing first doesn’t help, especially when you have a bland look AND personality. I think Ashleigh might also be in trouble without Jakob, but her first dance might save her.

Nathan and Mollee: hmmm, interesting to see if the backlash continues. Sorry, Mollee still dances like a junior high cheerleader (no finesse, no rhythm, no sharpness). Her trailer trash styling doesnt help much. Nathan’s overly emotional side might have appeared fake to some viewers. I would NOT be surprised to see either in the bottom.

  63. Have Jakob or Eleanor done hip hop so far this season?

Yup, both. Jakob nailed it, Elenor not so much (according to the judges, although i though she did fine, she actually danced on beat).

Regarding personality……at times, the way a person is behind the camera will affect the way she/he dances in front of the audience. it also affects the chemistry that person has with his dancer and with his choreographer. so yeah, I do think in dancing, personality is key. more so than if we were judging voice, cooking or designing skills. just my small, humble observation

  64. I also enjoyed Kathryn and Nathan’s Rumba! I don’t get what the judges were saying. I thought it was wonderful and very well executed!

Me too. At times Nathan’s facial expressions were over exaggerated, but so what, he executed the choreography with good technique. And Kathryn freakin rocked it, she was oozing sex appeal. I almost expected them to make out. but im sure Legacy wouldn’t have allowed it ;)

  65. I used to want her gone (especially after the whole ankle incident) and while I’m not ready to forgive her I think she’s worth another week.

I don’t understand that statement. She has to be forgiven for being injured?

  66. I wasn’t trying to be snarky (altough you seem to like that),

    huh?
