Simon Cowell on Firings, X Factor Judges’ Search, Britney Spears Deal

Simon Cowell chatted X Factor with the folks at Good Day New York this morning. He remained mum on who may or may not be in play for the two open X Factor judges spots. But he did say that two new names entered the mix, one is “a very famous singer” and the other a “famous actress”.

The names change daily, says Simon, “You’ve got to talk to everybody.”

On the firings of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steven Jones, Simon said, “They weren’t fired, darling…they weren’t invited back!”   Don’t expect another British import to play host (or judge)  “too many Brits on the show,” he said of Steve’s termination, ” if I’m being honest with you. One Brit allowed.”

“I always wanted a boy and a girl to host the show,” Cowell said. “And I like hosts who don’t kind of have a hosting background, you know. I like them when they’ve done acting and stuff like that. It’s a different kind of dynamic.”

Simon is looking forward to heading to the “Dunking Donuts Center” [sic] in Providence.  He’s really looking forward to those donuts! Ha.

The Hollywood Reporter  insists, despite reports to the contrary, Britney Spears is still in talks for a judges’ spot.  “A well place source told THR that Spears’ fiancé, agent Jason Trawick, is negotiating her contact, which could be signed as soon as this week.”  (The Hollywood Reporter)
