With 69% of reports in, Niall Horan is headed for his first number one as a solo artist. Niall will become the third member of One Direction to top the Album (Combined and Sales) chart. One Direction itself had 4 number one albums. While everybody knew that Harry would get one and probably Zayn, there was less assurance about some of the other lads. Niall has been making a lot of right moves and working hard to establish his career, so good on his success.
Also releasing an album this week is America’s Got Talent’s Lindsey Stirling. Lindsey has her own Independent label and has built a successful touring career. Lindsey is also appearing this season on Dancing With the Stars and her Christmas album “Warmer in the Winter” starts off at 11th in sales and 41st combined. Pentatonix from The Sing Off also releases a Christmas album this week. Pentatonix has released several Christmas albums and many of them have become the Christmas Album of the Year. This one is a re-release of last year’s album with some extra material. “A Pentatonix Christmas” opens at 13th in sales and 38th combined.
Country Artist Chris Young is originally from Nashville Star. His “Losing Sleep” debuts at 3rd in sales and 5th in combined. Staying in the Country genre, Lauren Alaina is featured on Kane Brown’s album at 19th in sales and 22 combined. Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony is on Halsey’s album at 46th/29th.
It’s new music Friday and the original recipe Idol Kelly Clarkson leads the charge on iTunes at #1. Her “Meaning of Life” is her 8th studio album (including a Christmas album) and her first for her new label. Her big competition may be Kenny Chesney. While he may only be fifth on iTunes, he’s offering all his tickets as a ticket bundle. If all those albums get redeemed, he’s going to put up some solid sales numbers.
