HDD reports on the Canadian television show “The Launch”. The show was a ratings success and is now being distributed worldwide. The songs released on the show have 4M worldwide streams (sure Drake gets 20 times that in a week in the US, but that’s pretty good for a Canadian content television show).
HDD also reports on song revenue chart and the interesting tidbit at the bottom is that UMG has 60% of the marketshare of the top 50 songs. That’s very dominant. SME (Sony) has 20%, WMG (Warner) has 15% and Indies have a tiny 4%. Streaming was supposed to make it easier for independent labels…
