E Online has confirmed that How I Met Your Mother star, Neil Patrick Harris, is guest judging in Dallas, TX today.
The Joe Jonas deal was only a one-day thing, apparently.
Weird. What could Harris possibly bring to the panel besides his wit? Idol guest judges are typically singer/musicians or connected to the music industry in some way.
Harris has done a little singing on Broadway, but that’s the extent of Doogie Howser’s musical career. Oh, wait, there was that hilarious closing number on the Tony Awards in June…
Still, it’s a no go for me.
ETA: Ok, so he’s done more than “a little singing” on Broadway, he’s got 9 roles since 1997 listed in his wiki. I guess NPH will be as good a guest judge as any–better than Joe Jonas and Spice Posh, for sure. I have nothing against NPH, but since the goal of the show is to come out the other end with a recording career, I think the judges should have some experience in the recording industry. But, I suppose for some one off guest judges deal, it doesn’t matter who takes that extra seat…
