NBC Will pair ‘The Voice’ with the Super Bowl

NBC’s new breakout show, The Voice will get the royal treatment when it returns for a second season in January. The Peacock network will air an hour-long episode of the new competition reality show after Superbowl XLVI on February 5.

“There is no better showcase on television than to follow the Super Bowl, and we believe The Voice is deserving of such high-profile exposure, ” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt in a statement. “The attention grabbing blind audition phase of The Voice has mass appeal and will fittingly team up with the biggest sporting event of the year.”

FOX has already announced that it plans to pair up American Idol with a special premiere event Sunday, Jan. 22 immediately following the NFC championship game.

Superbowl >>> NFC Championship game. Take that Idol!

No wonder Simon Cowell is reportedly very afraid…
