ABC entertainment president Paul Lee defended the super drama-filled Nashville season 1 finale that featured a car crash, calling the season ending shocker a “sweet cliffhanger… There’s an impending doom that leads you toward the car crash that is very Nashville.”
Well. If he says so! The remarks came at Sunday’s ABC executive session at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills.
Lee added that in Season 2, Rayna (Connie Britton) will “really drive plot. That particular rivalry with Connie and Hayden[‘s characters] is coming to a head. We’ve only seen a couple of outlines and a script, but we’re really happy with it.”
It appears that those two strong women, Rayna and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) will continue to spar in season 2. Will they ever be friends? Guess we’ll have to watch to find out.
Nashville season 2 will premiere on September 25, but will take a longish winter break, returning to ABC on Wednesday February 26. Check out ABC’s mid-season premiere schedule HERE.
