In order to schedule SYTYCD around the World Series, there will be no elimination show for the Top 20 and the Top 18, but there will be eliminations. It’s not exactly clear how the eliminations will be handled the first two weeks, but there’s talk the judges will choose the dancers to send home.

Ugh, why move SYTYCD to the fall if it can’t be scheduled properly?

Here’s the schedule for the next two weeks: The Top 20 will be revealed Wednesday, October 21, 8/7c. The special, introducing the Top 20, will air Monday, October 26 8/7c, and the Top 20 performance show will air Tuesday, October 27, 8/7c.

  1. Ugh is right! they wasted all these past weeks showing us 1 hour of auditions a week, and now they can’t make time for elimination shows? The elimination shows are what makes STYCD a much better reality competition than Idol, if you ask me. I love that America gets to choose their 3 “least favorite” and then dance experts (and of course, producers with an agenda) decide who goes home. I love that they do solos to dance for their lives so the show is not just 5 minutes of TV plus lots of dumb fillers.

They should have just left it in the summer! There used to be more prestige to being a “regular season” show, but with most people watching non-network shows now, and watching them either on their DVR or computer, there are really 3 seasons of TV now, and summer is no less exciting.

  2. so sad my favorite Jakob paired with the cheesy ashleigh

UGH! My thoughts EXACTLY!! I Love Jakob so to pair him with this girl who just gets on my LAST NERVES! Well I hope I can start to like her better as the season goes on cause I really think Jakob is fantastic and I don’t want him stifled by an awful personality.

  3. I can live without 2 elimination shows but I hope they move the show back to the summer.

  4. WTF? No elimination shows? What’s the point? We don’t get to vote?!

I agree–back to back SYTYCD summer/fall is too much. Ratings are not going to be good, I suspect; too many new shows on other stations. There is also burnout. Keep it in the summer, when there is nothing else to watch except baseball. ;)

  5. I think Karen and Kevin, Billy and Pauline, Nathan and Mollee, and Russell and Noelle are going to be strong partners. I think Phillip and Channing are really going to surprise though. I think they are both very telegenic, with bright big personalities. Phillip is my dark horse to win this, he seems to have the “it” factor.

  6. This just proves how messed up this Fall season is. Basically, it is a TOP 16 since that’s when we vote. Why didn’t they think about the World Series when this decision was made? They are not going to add new viewers, but rather lose viewers they had in the summer.

I like the dances to be performed. I’ll be watching the show but I know some that have given up on it.

  7. Well, the first season started with the Top 16 and didn’t have a special results show that I remember. People still voted. The cuts were shown at the beginning of the following week’s performances.

I don’t mind missing results show. They have really become drawn-out tedium. The Canadian version went down to a 30-min results show. Quick and simple.

  8. I think they should just have a double elimination like DWTS. When it comes right down to it, they usually pick who goes home the first 5 eliminations anyway… why not keep everyone for the first two weeks so that the audience can get familiar with the contestants? I have always believed the first week is too early for anyone to go home. Its unfair after all the work you put in just to get there. And it sucks that they are going to go up against DWTS on Monday and Tuesday… especially since it is so late in the DWTS season. Usually it only affects the results show… Boooooo Nigel Boooooo!

  9. Boooooo Nigel Boooooo!

The thing is if you love dancing, you are probably watching both shows.

    ^That is a good idea.

I do, and I watch both. I’m a little disgusted with DWTS right now, but not enough to stop watching it. I was so excited to have another season of SYTYCD right away, but agree that it’s best to move it back to summer, too many new shows competing for people’s attention. Oh well, on with the show.
