Three milestones again this week: one from a winner, one from a second place finisher and one from somebody who finished way back in 9th.
Mandisa exited early in Season 5, but quickly found her niche. She has developed a strong following in Christian music and “What if We Were Real” is her fourth studio album/EP. “Waiting for Tomorrow” is the second single from that album and it has achieved top 15 on CAC. Her last single “Stronger” went to number 1.
Also working his second single is David Cook, the winner of Season 7. Some thought that when the label doggedly stuck with his first single until his album fell off the BB200 that the label would stop releasing singles. For whatever reason, they eventually decided to release with “Fade Into Me” to coincide with his tour. The fact that “Fade Into Me” is already top 40 on HAC indicates to me that the label should have pulled the trigger on “The Last Goodbye” much sooner.
The final milestone this week goes to Lauren Alaina, S10’s second place finisher. While it will likely be endlessly debated as to whether “Georgia Peaches” constitutes the first or second single off of “Wildflower”, the song itself is off to a good start. It moved into the top 50 on Country this week.
Finally, Josh Gracin went recurrent on AC.
