Monday Morning Mediabase Update: June 27-July 3

Happy Independence Day! We have two milestones to celebrate this 4th of July.

Fifth Harmony, US X-Factor contestants, went top 15 this week with “All in My Head” – the second single from their “7/27” album. They currently have two songs in the top 20 on Rhythmic and “All in Me Head” is almost top 20 on Pop.

Zayn is from the UK version of X-Factor and originally with the band One Direction. His debut single opened at number one in the Hot 100 (becoming only the 25th song in the history of the chart to do that) and is still achieving milestones months later. “Pillowtalk” went top 20 on AC this week. Also on AC, Kelly Clarkson’s “Piece by Piece” returned to the top 10.

To no one’s surprise, Drake’s “Views” tops the BB200 for a 9th week – now the third longest at number one for a Hip Hop album (Vanilla Ice topped the chart for 16 weeks and MC Hammer for 21 weeks, both starting in 1990). “Views” sold 111K SPS, 25K in albums and 67K in streams. Beyonce’s “Lemonade” is number 2 (48K, -3%) and The Avett Brothers are the top debut at number 3 (46K/43K). They have the top selling album of the week. Here is the chart:
