This is a big big week for milestones. There are 7 milestones which is impressive since there are only 10 songs we are following on six charts this week. Of course, some songs can have more than one milestone (one song has three) and charts can double up as well.
Let’s start with the woman who has three milestones this week. Aptly enough, she was the winner of Season 3 of American Idol. Fantasia’s “Without Me” featuring Kelly Rowland (and BB says Missy Elliott) went top 10 on Urban, top 30 on UAC and top 40 on Rhythmic this week. Her debut single from the same album is still top 3 on UAC.
We have a two milestones on the CAC front, both from contestants who didn’t even make it to the top 5 on Idol. Mandisa finished 9th on the 5th season. Her debut single from her fourth album “Overcomer” is rocketing up the chart hitting milestones every week it has been released. This week, it moved into the top 15 on CAC. Also rocketing up the chart, Season 11’s 7th place finisher Colton Dixon. Colton sang his “Never Gone” on the tour that year and the song moved from 97th to 42nd this week for a top 50 debut.
Rounding out the milestones for the Idols is the winner of that season, Phillip Phillips. His second single “Gone, Gone, Gone” went top 10 in AC. This is the third format that the song has gone top 10 in and it is sitting just outside top 30 on Pop.
Finally, from Simon’s X-Factor is the non-boy-band Emblem3. Their “Chloe” has gone top 30 in Pop. Simon may have a hit act to brag about when the third season of the US franchise debuts this fall.BTW Happy Canada Day!!!!
