The Christmas freeze starts tomorrow and will continue until January 5th. During that time period, we don’t see a lot of adds and playlists are pretty much set. Christmas songs and countdown shows (even worse this year because it’s the end of the decade) crowd out the current songs and many songs lose their bullets. So, how did our Idols do going into the freeze?
Well, lots of milestones were met. Kris Allen’s LLWD has put on a last minute sprint to become a top 15 hit on HAC and a top 30 hit on Pop. The HAC actually sees a lot of activity with Jason Castro making his first appearance on our charts, Adam’s WWFM joining the chart and Carrie getting a top 30 HAC hit. Kelly Clarkson continues to dominate the HAC chart at number 1 (for her fifth week). Carrie also achieves yet another top 30 hit on Country (she has two songs at 26 on two different charts). Not to be forgotten is Daughtry’s new single which made great strides and is sitting one spot out of top 30 on Pop and top 15 on HAC. Finally, Glee which kicks butt all over the download charts manages to get it’s first real radio action with a top 40 hit on AC for their Christmas song.
