Mariah Carey Calls American Idol Experience “Bleak” (VIDEO)

Once again Mariah Carey is asked about her experience as a judge on American Idol. Her one season stint in 2013 is considered a low point for the franchise as she and fellow judge Nicki Minaj waged open battle throughout the season.

Mariah is asked about Idol practically every time a microphone is stuck in her face and every time her reaction is the same–HATED IT!

During a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night (June 6) the host asked if the rumor was true that she advised her friend, Lionel Richie, not to take the judges gig. Of course, he DID take the job, and the legendary singer enjoyed the experience so much he’s returning for another season.

“If I didn’t I should have,” she answered coyly. (UHM. Fact Check: YOU DID) “Why is he doing it? Is it going well?” And you’d think she would have left it at that. Jimmy TRIED to move on to another topic when Mariah stopped him to say, “I wasn’t saying that Lionel wouldn’t be a great judge. I was just saying that I didn’t have the world’s best experience.”

“Oh, I think everybody got that,” Jimmy replied.

When asked to describe the worst part of being a judge on American Idol, Mariah praised the memes, calling them “the best part” of being on the show. But then she just could not resist getting in a jab, calling the experience “bleak.” “It was bleak darling. It was a bleak experience.”

“But there was some good hairstyles,” She quipped and then followed up with a bit of shady shade apparently directed at Nicki, “MY hairstyles were good.”

The singer also chatted up her Vegas show. At the end of the segment she gave everyone in the audience free tickets. See? She can be nice. Once in awhile…
