Mandisa has just released a Christmas EP. Here’s an update she sent to her fans, via her My Space page…
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
I know. I know. It’s just now going into November. But would you believe that I’ve been singing Christmas songs for 3 months now!? First I recorded a beautiful duet called “Christmas Day” with Michael W Smith on his new “It’s a Wonderful Christmas” CD. But it didn’t end there! In September I recorded my new Christmas EP and taped two television Christmas specials…more on that later. But for now I wanted to let you know that my “Christmas Joy EP” is available digitally today! It will be in stores November 20 but it is available for download now.
It has 4 songs on it:
1. What Christmas Means to Me – This is a Stevie Wonder classic that I sang last year at the Walt Disney World Christmas Day parade. Y’all know I love me some motown so had to throw one of those in the mix! And it brings back such fond memories of spending that time with Ace Young, Kevin Covais, and Paris Bennett in Orlando. We had a blast!
2. Joy to the World – We put a little jazz/big band twist on this familiar carol. Perfect for trimming the tree if you ask me!
3. Christmas Makes Me Cry – This is a new song written by Matthew West. I love Matty! We are doing some tour dates together right now and he wrote three songs on my “True Beauty” CD (Only the World, Voice of a Savior, and (Never Gonna) Steal My Joy). Well not only is he a brilliant songwriter but he is also an awesome singer. I was honored to sing this duet with him. The message of this song is so appropriate for this time of year. Most of us think of Christmas as a time for good tidings and cheer. But for many who have lost loved ones around this time or who have family serving in the military, this time can be difficult. Thankfully, the true meaning of Christmas brings us hope and thankfulness even in the midst of tears. I love this song and hope it brings comfort to many.
4. O Holy Night – One of my favorite Christmas carols! This song is so powerful and moving and I love the way we arranged this very familiar classic. I hope you do too.
