Season 5’s Mandisa has been keeping up with her castmates, as she explains in her latest My Space Blog. Not only did she see Ace Young perform in Grease when she and her band swung through New York City, but she also got the chance to catch up with Katharine McPhee and Lisa Tucker while they both worked on albums in Nashville, the city Mandisa calls home when she’s not on the road:
While I was in NYC I was also able to catch up with another friend of mine from Idol. All of my “Highroller” friends will appreciate this. The latest star in Broadway’s Grease is…..drumroll please…….ACE YOUNG!!! He did such an excellent job! I was so proud. My bass player (and musical director) Bernard and my drummer James had never been to a Broadway show before so they were so excited. I was just happy to see Ace again. Haven’t seen him in about a year when he was here in Nashville working on his album. Speaking of….I just saw Kat (Katharine McPhee) last month here in Nashville. She was working with some writers here in Nashville. Lisa Tucker was in GA recently working on her album. I think it is so interesting that all of my CA buds from Idol are hangin down south to work on their albums. Being a Cali transplant here in the south for the last 13 years, I find it fascinating that people are recognizing the enormous talent down south. I’m partial to both the south and Cali…just thought it was so funny that everyone is coming here now. Anyone care to weigh in on that?
Anyway, back to Ace…you only have a few more weeks to see Ace on Broadway. But I must warn the ladies…brace yourselves. I’ll just say that your man will have to be really secure with himself to sit there with you as you watch Ace on that stage. The squeals in the audience at some of his antics were deafening! I posted some pics of us after the show in the picture section too.
Mandisa has taken her Christian/Gospel show on the road, performing at “Women of Faith” events. In January, she’ll take part in the Christian radio station KLOVE cruise, and right now, her Christmas album “It’s Christmas” is available everywhere.
“My Deliverer” is the first single off Mandisa’s newly recorded sophomore album Freedom. She promises more news on her album in January.
