  1. Wow, I haven’t watched it yet but I’m so excited Walmart Soundcheck is here. This is going to be a great week for Lee fans!

  2. Only just watched the first one but wow – he looks and sounds sooo great!

  3. I think we found Crystal’s rug from AI. ;)

Looks good, sounds good… and I like the set (despite my pre-coffee humor).

  4. Wow! What a way to wake up the day! He looked and sounded Amazing, Amazing and Amazing!

You can hear his raspy voice on every song, I love it!

  5. i honestly could NOT stop watching! lee just sounds so amazing and the band rocks! to think that this was their first performance as a band, how awesome. i loved all the performances but Beautiful Like You just left me speechless. i enjoyed the more upbeat, kinda country-ish vibe of Dear Isabelle (may have clapped & swayed to that). also, i realized that lee doesn’t need much back up vocals on Sweet Serendipity, he kinda just sang the whole damn song, even the bridge, hah! it was also fun seeing him talk about his AI experience, what direction he wanted to go and some of the songs he played. he was just animated and excited about the entire thing. so proud of him! :)

  6. Well, I love this music!!!! I put this on in the background as I got ready for the day and I found myself humming and smiling! There is something so haunting about Lee’s voice and distinctive….and that is a good thing. I will def be buying this album. I really like SS but find way too wordy….too bad because there are some really great parts….some very catchy parts. I was not a big fan of Lee’s but I really think he will be a favorite of mine and I think he will have a hit or two. He has come a long way with his confidence in singing…..LOVED IT!

  7. Ha Ha – that does look like crystal’s rug!
Did anyone see that Rock Band has a one of his songs – Princess (Reprise)
Great way to expand audience to the young male

  8. Lee just on Today Show
The band needs to lose the jackets / blazers. Who dresses these guys?
    Seriously – it makes a difference…

  9. Loved it! amazing job Lee and band! I clapped along to DI too, LOL! BLY is so pretty I think that is my favorite from the sound check. Lots of emotion in that one it seemed.

  10. Man, Lee is SO in the zone when performing LIVE!
He changed up Dear Isabelle yet again and I am really loving this live version.
    Folky-vibe and very Lee.

As for the blazers and jackets….Yes, some of it seriously has to GO . And this is coming from a huge Lee-fan :)

  11. Lee did a good job. I’m really liking these tunes better live. The live version of Dear Isabelle is really catchy. I also liked BLY the best, it kind of reminds me of One republic.

  12. Listened to Live It Up and SS.
I wanted not to like them (b/c I am biased against AIS9), but I kind-of do.
    Like LIU better than SS.
Interesting that he is using a Crystal-like carpet.

  13. Interesting that he is using a Crystal-like carpet.

I think that would be WM using that carpet, they mostly likely sell it in their stores!

Love the WM sound check video’s!! Lee and band sounded amazing!!

  14. Gave all 5 of them a listen (plus interview). For me, the performances go like this:

BLU >>> DI, ESS, LIU >> SS

I was really impressed by the live version of BLU I heard the other day, and this Walmart version only solidified my love of the song. I don’t know what radio plan RCA has for Lee (if they even have one), but I really hope it involves releasing this song as a single, because I honestly think it’s his best chance of having a big hit. (Disclaimer: I never liked Hey There Delilah all that much and the massive success of I’m Yours baffled me…so maybe its a musical taste issue ….although I do like all of Lee’s songs).

On another note…not the best rendition of SS to my ears. The one he just did on the Today Show was miles better. If Walmart’s going to air these things in the store, I’d air any of them but that one. Well, I’d advocate airing BLU over the rest of them, but hey. :)

    Nice interview too!

  15. Cant wait for this to start airing in stores!

That rug isnt specific to Lee, its part of the Soundcheck set and can be seen in all of their videos.

  16. I hope Rca releases Beautiful Like You as a single, because it’s my fav song that I have heard so far.

  17. Love it!! BLY is growing on me (I prefer M&MJ) but it’s a beautiful song and they really sell it. My favorite song on the album is still Stay Here but I can’t wait to hear the entire cd from beginning to end. It’s a great week to be a fan :D

  18. I’m as far from being a Lee fan as it gets, but I find myself listening to BLY for the fifth time today…
Love the gritty vocals over the dramatic build and for the first time I get all his talk about Kings Of Leon being a big influence to him.

Makes me think he should have taken the KOL rockier route on more tracks, I still don’t get why he’s trying to be the next Jason Mraz.
The soulful track, BB ,is great as well and he should stick to that niche when singing ballads.

  19. These performances are great; I can’t believe this band is so new and playing so well together.
We haven’t heard him performing Me and My Jealousy live yet, though many are mentioning it as among their favorites from Live It Up. I’m wondering if that’s because they are planning to use it for the next single.

  20. They’re all really good, but BLY is just mind-blowing! Every time I think I have my favorite narrowed down, he gives me another version of one of the songs and fall in love all over again. He’s incredible.

  21. We haven’t heard him performing Me and My Jealousy live yet, though many are mentioning it as among their favorites from Live It Up. I’m wondering if that’s because they are planning to use it for the next single

I was thinking the exact same thing…although it might just be wishful thinking on my part.
Really enjoyed all of these performances, especially BLY.

  22. I won’t admit how many times I’ve watched it! Especially BLU. Love this version of it.

And yeah, that area rug is part of the Soundcheck set. Lee doesn’t travel with a rug.

  23. That rug isnt specific to Lee, its part of the Soundcheck set and can be seen in all of their videos.

    That’s what I thought too… :)

  24. Dlynne, these were just really great perfomances! i too won’t admit how many times i’ve seen them. wow, no nerves at all, just the pure passion for his music. lee & the band are just on! :)

Love the gritty vocals over the dramatic build and for the first time I get all his talk about Kings Of Leon being a big influence to him.

was also reminded by KOL when i had BLY on repeat the entire of yesterday. i’ve really grown to love this song from the snippets, to the studio version then to the different performances. but this is the best version! i just like singing along at the top of my lungs during the chorus, lol!!

  25. I have watched the performances several times today and couldn’t get enough of it.
I might be in the minority but I really love Dear Isabelle – there’s just something about him singing it.
But I do agree that BLY will make a good single.

ETA: BB is another one of my favorites and I cannot wait to hear him perform this song live. I bet it will be awesome.

  26. Dlynne:

And yeah, that area rug is part of the Soundcheck set. Lee doesn’t travel with a rug.

Nope. That gorgeous head of hair is alllllll his.

  27. Just downloaded the mp3 of this – absolutely awesome. So so good. I love having this to play along with the album all day long!
