Idol Sales News – Week Ending 06/07/15

Florence and the Machine achieve their first number one album on the BB200 and album sales chart. While it’s not official for the BB200, the HDD predictions have the group beating Taylor Swift in the number 2 slot by almost double. A$AP Rocky slides to third on both charts from number one last week. Jason Derulo takes 4th on combined (7th in sales) while Ed Sheeran climbs into the top 10 for fifth (11th sales). Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard debut in 4th for sales, but their lack of downloads cause them to slide to 6th on combined. The “Pitch Perfect 2” soundtrack (featuring Pentatonix) continues to sell well at 7th on combined followed by Meghan Trainor (working her new single and sound with John Legend), Maroon 5 (representing the Voice and trying to get the “Song of the Summer”) and Sam Hunt.

Fifth Harmon is the sole representative for the reality singing show competitors in the top 50. As has occurred for the past several weeks, they have not appeared in the top 50 on the sales chart, but done well enough with TEAs/SEAs to make the combined. Now 54 features Tori Kelly, Kelly Clarkson and One Direction. It’s 16th on sales and gets no credits for downloads, so it is 31st on combined. Blake Shelton, judge from the Voice, makes the bottom wrung of the combined chart.
