Jennifer Hudson Is Oprah Winfrey’s Next Confirmed Interview For ‘Next Chapter’ – After nailing her network’s second highest ratings thanks to her exclusive interview with Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey is vying to keep the momentum going for her “Next Chapter” series. In addition to a forthcoming episode with Olympic gold medalist, Gabby Douglas, Winfrey is also confirmed to sit down with singer-actress Jennifer Hudson. According to a press release issued this week by the network, Hudson’s September 9 episode of “Next Chapter” will air as a part of OWN’s rollout of the month’s new programming schedule, which will also includes the season premiere of “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.” – Read more at the Huffington Post

Mel Shields: Taylor Hicks to debut at Harrah’s Reno – Like many aspiring musicians, Taylor Hicks, the Season 5 winner of “American Idol,” got his start playing little clubs. Unlike other musicians, Hicks had to share time with fish tossing. “It was one of my very first gigs,” Hicks said of performing at a lounge called Flora-Bama. “It’s right on the border as the name implies, but it’s best known for the International Mullet Toss.” Mullets, Hicks said, are the Gulf Coast equivalent of codfish. “Essentially, they put all these fish in a garbage can, all slicked up, and people toss them,” he said. “A lot of people see how drunk they can get, and how far they can throw a fish.” Read more at SacBee
