Tour Hits Carly Smithson’s San Diego Where We Visit Hubby Todd

Immediately after the Glendale, Ariz., show, the Idols boarded buses and attempted to sleep on the long ride across the desert to San Diego, site of their second concert. Reports seemed near unanimous that little sleeping got done on this first overnight trip as they each adjusted to their new homes for the next 52 cities and counting ‘- bunks on the boys’ and girls’ buses. David Cook said later in the day that he had been too pumped up with adrenaline from the excitement of the Glendale show to get much sleep. In any event, by the evening, if their enthusiasm remained undimmed, it was tinged offstage with a barely perceptible bleary quality.

American Idol Tour Photos in San Diego

Cali Kat Phan of the Idol Forums was nice enough to post the photos she took of the top 10 American Idols as they arrived in San Diego! Judging from the pics, it seems as though our Idols were really open to hanging out with their fans and that the fans in turn were really mindful of others and waited their turn to have photos with them. Thanks for sharing, Cali!

Phil Stacey Release Flag Tribute Song

Rising Country Music star and former American Idol contestant Phil Stacey is releasing his new single titled …Old Glory just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

“The song is really just an allegory for this country, ” Stacey said. “It’s using the flag to represent our nation, which is exactly what the flag is. The flag has been tattered, turned and burned, but she hasn’t lost any dignity. It’s just like our country.”

Stacey was inspired to write the song long before his Idol days while he was serving in the United States Navy. After playing it with a Navy band and most recently performing it at the Grand Ole Opry, the song has gained popularity, according to the tennessean.com.

Idols continue to sing through their 15 minutes

There can be only one winner of “American Idol” each season, as fans of Fox’s ratings behemoth know. And for every Carrie Underwood, and, perhaps, Kelly Clarkson, there is a LaKisha Jones, a Jon Peter Lewis and an Anwar Robinson, to name just three of the also-rans from the first six seasons of the show who will appear at the Rrazz Room over the next nine weeks.

The often pleasant and sometimes awkward 90-minute set by Lewis, Robinson and Jones on Wednesday night at the Rrazz was a good reminder that, as hyped up as each “Idol” season becomes as the thousands of contestants get narrowed down to the final 10, this is a contest for amateurs and less-than-seasoned professionals.

Simon Cowell expecting to make”fantastic” announcement “very soon”

Even though American Idol’s seventh season is in the books there’s never any down time for Simon Cowell, who apparently has some “big” news.

Cowell appeared as a guest on Ryan Seacrest’s Tuesday morning KIIS radio program and informed the Idol host he plans on making a “fantastic” announcement “very soon.”

“Is it big enough to be front page?” asked Seacrest.

“It’s big enough to be the entire newspaper, ” answered Cowell.

Week 4 results on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

The group number is to “Money Money” from the New Broadway Cast Recording of Cabaret. I wasn’t too much into it but it might just be because of the insane number of unnecessary camera cuts. Oh. It was a Tyce Di Orio number. That also explains things. I don’t always dig his stuff. But at least Cat Deeley looks good tonight.

Katee & Joshua and Kherington & Twitch are the first two couples on stage. Neither of them are in the bottom, to both their delight and that of the crowd. After the commercials, Kourtni L. & Matt have gained no reprieve in their seemingly constant Bottom Three status. Chelsie H. & Mark are safe but Courtney & Gev take their first dip into the bottom, mostly likely thanks to the uneven showing in their Hip Hop routine.

Canadian Idol: Not Exciting

Four more contestants were eliminated from Canadian Idol on Wednesday night. Lisa Bell, Paul Clifford, Jesse Cottam and Jessica Sheppard (who’s now been eliminated twice) found no love from Canadian voters after their performances on Monday and Tuesday nights and were sent packing.

This week’s results show introduced yet another exciting change for Idol. We got to see more performances. Each judge picked his or her favourite singer from this week to do an encore. Woo hoo! Recaps and show favourites usually come at the end of a season, not one or two days after the initial performance. Come on, give us something more entertaining. It’s not like this show isn’t dragged out enough already.
