Nigel Lythgoe awarded an OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours – Nigel Lythgoe has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. The 65-year-old TV producer was given the accolade for services to performing arts education and charity. Speaking to the ECHO from Los Angeles, he said: “I’ve known for a few weeks and had to keep it to myself. I don’t know who nominated me – I called the consul general here in LA and asked and he said he couldn’t talk to me about it! “It makes a great deal of difference, and especially it being out here in LA, it brings you closer to home. “I’ve had the honour of meeting Her Majesty on a number of occasions over the years, as a performer, director and producer including the Royal Variety Performance. The Annual City of Hope Softball Game to raise money to beat cancer, took place in Nashville TN this morning. American Idol season 10 alum, Lauren Alaina (Team iheart) and Season 5’s Bucky Covington (Team Opry) took part. It was Team iHeart for the win!
