Nigel Lythgoe awarded an OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours – Nigel Lythgoe has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. The 65-year-old TV producer was given the accolade for services to performing arts education and charity. Speaking to the ECHO from Los Angeles, he said: “I’ve known for a few weeks and had to keep it to myself. I don’t know who nominated me – I called the consul general here in LA and asked and he said he couldn’t talk to me about it! “It makes a great deal of difference, and especially it being out here in LA, it brings you closer to home. “I’ve had the honour of meeting Her Majesty on a number of occasions over the years, as a performer, director and producer including the Royal Variety Performance.
