Durham, UNH prep for Alex Preston ‘American Idol’ homecoming – If he’s not cut as an “American Idol” finalist this week, Alex Preston will be honored with a parade through Durham on Saturday, then give a public concert, all with the Fox-TV show’s cameras recording the event, said Durham Town Administrator Todd Selig. Known as a Home Town Hero visit, the event is being coordinated by officials from the town and the University of New Hampshire, where Preston was a student before launching his singer-songwriter career. Selig said he was contacted by a producer for the television talent contest on Monday and that plans have been in the works, and in flux, since. – Read more at Seacoast Online
Bradenton mayor gives American Idol’s Sam Woolf key to the city – BRADENTON — He may not be an American Idol, but he’s certainly a Bradenton star. Sam Woolf, fresh off his fifth-place finish on “American Idol,” was honored Monday at a breakfast by about 100 people at Pirate City. Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston gave the 18-year-old singer a key to the city, and Del Couch announced that the Del Couch Music Education Foundation had established a Sam Woolf Music Scholarship Fund.
