GQ Editor on ‘Glee’ Photo Shoot: ‘They’re Old Enough to Do What They Want’

GQ editor in chief Jim Nelson responded to a concerned Parents Television Council on the subject of his magazine’s sexy ‘Glee’ photo shoot, telling The Insider: “The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy.”

According to TMZ, the Parents Television Council said the magazine’s photo shoot “borders on pedophilia, ” adding it is “disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way.”

X FACTOR oddball Wagner says the show “stinks” in sensational secret tapes obtained by The Sun.

The 54-year-old – who is tipped for the boot this weekend – wailed: “They will never let me beat the English. They will not let a Brazilian win.

“Nobody tells Simon Cowell what to do. The public do not decide who is going to win. It is Simon Cowell. If he decides Katie will win, she will win. And if he decides a group will win, then they will win.”

Long-haired Wagner also accused The X Factor pushing mass-produced acts into the charts.

He said: “Simon Cowell can decide who he wants at number one. It is so double glazing, it is so block paving, it’s all sales – it’s bull****.”

  1. You know I like Jordin’s verion of that song but IMHO it doesn’t fit into the movie

why do you think it doesn’t fit into the movie?

IDK exactly but I think the R&B flavor just doesnt fit with the sorta quaint countryside vibe setting of the movie.

I mean are they replacing the original version in the movie with Jordin’s? If so they I get a kinda disconnect from the rest of the music. Now if they are playing it at the end during the credits I think that might work. But IDK right in the middle of the movie just seems odd.

Like I said I like her version though I have no problems with redoing the song. Its just the flavor of the music is different from the rest in the movie and loses continuity for me (for you – hehe sorry)

  4. I had to google “Paige Miles”

Were there actually any hits? ;-)

  5. I saw the Glee/GQ snippet on our local news tonight. I was folding clothes in the laundry room with my 4 kids under 16 hanging out. I stood there drop jawed at what we saw. Our 16 year old said, “oh my…that’s not right, Mom.” We shut it off and had a nice chat about making good choices, about the fact that Glee is not a real show and that these “high schoolers” are just actors. However, my son had some good points. 1) Girls in his school love this show and he said that these girls were kind of their “role models”. (now I’m thinking holy mother of God….role models? but I didn’t say anything). He went on to say that the kids talk about how there school has a lot of glee type kids and it’s cool to be glee. Then he said that it’s not cool to dress like that on a magazine.

I know they are older and not really high school age but the fact that they put them in a high school setting in high school type clothes on that kind of magazine is quite sick imho. I don’t let my kids watch glee. I DVR it and let them watch some of the songs. I think the subject matter is way to risque for my kids, even my high schooler. I’m thinking that most kids wouldn’t normally see a magazine like GQ but with Glee on the cover, will they seek it out? I think it was really a “bad choice” on the part of those actors.

Hahahaha, i know. The original version is sung by Angela Landsbury, she almost speaks it. At the end they play the Celine Dion version. I like Jordin’s much better than Celine’s. I don’t think they will replace the version of Mrs. Potts (Angela’s voice)in the movie with Jordin’s, but Celine Dion’s version. I am sure.

  7. smeggs you changed to a purple duck here too….. Awe :) I am not at home yet so I can’t change into a purple hippo yet… :(

  8. This made me stop to remember.

Lil Rounds is finally going to release a single? Now that I think of it, has she put out any new music even on MySpace or something like that? I can remember at least something post-Tour from everyone else in the AI8 top 10 except Lil.

  9. Danny headlining an acoustic concert in Buffalo NY tonight; The Band Perry and Steel Magnolia opened.
    Tweet from attendee:

Great performances tonight from @dannygokey @steelmagnolia11 and The Band Perry. Very very impressed, best show in a long time!

Yeah for 5 trips to the Opry this year!

Danny will be performing at the Opry again on December 14th. That will be his fifth date at the Opry this year :)

  10. Danny at the airport with a happy fan, aww.

Doesn’t he ever get sick of taking pictures, lol? I guess I never get sick of looking at them

Steven Tyler singing the national anthem? I hope a video shows up here, would love to see that.

  11. Country fan (doesn’t even follow Danny on Twitter) from tonight’s acoustic show:

    I thought i liked @dannygokey but after tonight…I LOVE! great show :)

I think that Beauty and the Beast is a perfect gig for Jordin :)

  12. I’ll post the Slezak video when he puts it up on his site. Please don’t post a link before that, thanks.

  13. Doesn’t appear there will be much media from Danny’s show in Buffalo, lots of tweets about venue nazis, lol.

The Bella Bash charity event in Nashville is tomorrow, with Melinda and Danny both slated to perform. Hope to see some videos from that, especially if by any small chance they do something together for fun.

  14. Here’s the Reggae version of “No Boundaries” Kris performed for Idolatry. Go watch it at EW. Michael needs the hits! ;) .

    That was cute MJ

  15. Thanks for the link to the Reggae NB version MJ. That was great- Kris & Cale seem very relaxed here.

  16. Ha, that reggae “No Boundaries” was great. All these videos are pushing me towards trying to find tickets for Sunday’s show here in DC. Hmm.

  17. IMHO, you would not regret it tierbee. ;)

ETA: Oh yeah, Reggae version of NB is fun!

  18. That version of No Boundaries is terrific !!!! Best I’ve heard him or anyone do that song

  19. haha love that reggae NoBo version!!
Kris mentioned in the kradison interview last February that a reggae version of nobo would work. Yep very true!

  20. Reggae version of “No Boundaries” – exactly what Kris Allen does best; I’ve missed this side of him! One of the flaws of “Idol” up until this year is/was not letting the finalists do the finale song “their way.” Horrible having to fit into whatever “style” the song was written in, instead of being able to make it work for them – and I guess it took Season 8 to hit the point home! I think the worst year was season 6 – like him or not, Blake Lewis was original and different on the show – and I will never, ever forget him coming down in that cheesy moon trying to sing “This Is My Now” ballad style. Which he couldn’t. At all. Maybe now he could release a beatbox version…

  21. Love, love, love the reggae version of ‘No Boundaries’. Kris and Cale are amazing together.

  22. Never thought I’d hear a version of “No Boundaries” that actually makes that daffy song sound good, but this does it. Congrats to Kris and Cale. Talents that know music inside and out can do stuff like that. :)

  23. I’m sorry, but I don’t think this version sounds any better. But I’m not going to be happy until I hear some new Cook music, so my opinion really doesn’t matter. I’ll go back to lurking now. :(

  24. But I’m not going to be happy until I hear some new Cook music, so my opinion really doesn’t matter.

Aww, I think we’re heading towards needing a mental health group hug, Cook fans!
