World Series: Scotty McCreery crams for the National Anthem
“This is a huge thing, ” he tells Zap2it. “This is amazing.”
Those lyrics are tricky; witness the many who have messed up over the years. To ensure a perfect performance, McCreery is practicing.
“I am practicing every day, ” McCreery says from St. Louis where the Cardinals will face the Texas Rangers. “My mom’s making me write down the lyrics on a piece of paper. And that’s how I study. That’s the way to learn.”

>> You had a few clashes with your label on the previous album, such as when you didn’t want to release Already Gone because it sounded like Beyonce’s Halo – Ryan Tedder co-wrote both of them.
That was bothersome at its finest. I don’t like getting the same tracks as other artists.
>> You retaliated by writing a song called Wash Rinse Repeat about how record companies milk a formula.
Ha. My label loved that. The head of the label then – it always changes – came up to me and said, ‘I really dug your new song that got leaked’. I didn’t leak it, someone hacked my computer and released 75 songs. That was fun.
>> You don’t seem like an artist who insists on having their name credited on songs they may have contributed only a few words to.
That pisses me off. As a writer. And I’ve got a lot writer friends. There’s songs I’ve tweaked perspective, but if my name is on a song I wrote the lyrics and melody.

Clarkson, 29, tells USA TODAY that compromising in relationships “sounds like a lot of work or like another job. But obviously if I met someone like Kyle Chandler, I would be willing to compromise, ” she laughed.

Syesha Mercado, Shoshana Bean and Sylvia Maccalla Set for Heart and Soul Concert
The third season of Upright Cabaret’s American Icon Series will kick off Nov. 6 at 7:30 PM with an evening entitled Heart and Soul.
The celebration of the music of Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick and Whitney Houston will feature the talents of “American Idol” finalist Syesha Mercado, Wicked’s Shoshana Bean and vocalist Sylvia Maccalla.
Todd Schroeder is the musical director.

Artie, Is That You? Kevin McHale Ditches Sweater Vests Off ‘Glee’ Set
While Kurt Hummel might be the fashionista character on “Glee, ” off-camera it’s Kevin McHale who holds the unofficial title of most stylish Gleek guy.
“I think maybe it’s because I come from more of a music background, ” McHale told Billboard.com, referring to his previous stint as a member of the boy band NLT. “I really love when music artists like Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson wear outrageous things. Obviously If I wore something like that I’d look like an idiot, but I really respect fashion.”
But fashion is a sharp departure from McHale’s character on “Glee.” The height of fashion for nerdy Artie is a new sweater vest, and the disconnect between character and actor sometimes leaves his co-stars scratching their heads.
