Energetic ‘Idols’ show a fitting finale

Watching an “American Idols Live” concert is reminiscent of going to your first pop concert: There are hundreds of screaming fans, the band plays cheesy pop songs, and it’s easy to see the performers genuinely love what they do.

On the closing day of the Iowa State Fair, 5, 193 people gathered in the grandstand to see and hear the top 10 contestants from the sixth season of the popular FOX series….

He hoping this is his year.

Clay Aiken: The aftermath!

“So you’re going to be Clayverted!”

More than one Claymate, or hopelessly devoted fan of singer, humanitarian, near-American Idol and cultural phenomenon, decried that by the time Clay’s show at the Kravis Center was over, I would be one of them, ready to don the T-shirts, join the Internet groups and plan my vacations around Mr. Aiken’s concert schedule……..

Kelly Clarkson to be on ‘Canadian Idol’

Canadian Idol, Canada’s answer to America’s Got Talent, nears the end of its summer road with a guest-mentor appearance by Kelly Clarkson, the Fort Worth, Tex. native who chucked the aw-shucks demeanour that carried her to the original American Idol title.

Clarkson reinvented herself as a pop-rock artist-with-attitude, as evidenced by the title of her 2004 sophomore album Breakaway. Canadian Idol has always been known for a slightly edgier talent than its bigger, better known American cousin, and Clarkson could have a fount of worldly advice for the Canadian Idol wannabes who remain……..

It’s My Own Idol night, with Top 5 doing own favourites

She may be the last woman standing, but Canadian Idol Top 5 finalist Carly Rae Jepsen will be in good company with tonight’s guest mentor on the show, Kelly Clarkson. Since Clarkson’s own American Idol crowning in 2003, she’s released three successful albums, although the latest, My December, was released amid much controversy about song choice and has since had underwhelming sales.

What will the outspoken star offer the finalists by way of career advice? How about: “Don’t sign your lives away to Canadian Idol producers.” Oops, too late!

What started off as a scam ended up as one of the best concerts Haverhill’s ever seen. Former “American Idol” finalist Elliott Yamin performed on Saturday night at Winnekenni Castle as part of Haverhill Rocks! But Yamin’s appearance wasn’t always a guarantee. An agent claiming he had connections to the singer duped the event’s organizers into believing he could get Yamin to attend the concert, but it turned out they couldn’t afford his normal fee, according to the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune. When Yamin heard about the mishap, the popular singer “cut his regular fee” and performed at the show, the newspaper reported.

ROCK REVIEW: Nickelback, Daughtry bring few surprises to smooth-as-glass – but sporadically powerful – Frisco show

Suburbs are safe, homogenous, convenience-riddled places to live.

Now you know why Sunday’s concert featuring America’s two best-selling modern-rock acts went down way up yonder at Pizza Hut Park.

It’s not because places such as Smirnoff Music Centre or American Airlines Center couldn’t handle the comfortably dressed suburbanite- and female-dominated 14, 000 or so that attended.

In this case, the acts performed a concert as smooth, transparent and inventive as gelatin, right in the relative back yards of each’s thickest base of fans…..
