Chris Daughtry’s new Tattoo

Chris tweets the deets: “Here’s shot of my new ink. Hasn’t fully healed yet and you can only see one view but anyway. JP took the pic. It took a total of 12 hours. 2 6hr sessions. The artist is Emily Rose of “Little Johns Tattoo” in Greensboro NC. She’s an amazing artist!  By the way, for those asking, the tattoo is a comic bookish rendition of my wife @Mrsdaughtry”

NASHVILLE SKYLINE: If Miranda Lambert Can Make It, Why Can’t You?

Open to almost any page of the groundbreaking book, Finding Her Voice: The Saga of Women in Country Music by Mary Bufwack and Robert K. Oermann, and you will find a woman’s drama. As one example, here’s a section of Jan Howard’s story: “Her saga includes rape, wife beating, bigamy, poverty, war, teen suicide, cheating, divorce, thievery and mental collapse.”

The recent furor over the revelation that the Top 30 of Billboard’s hot country songs chart had no solo women artists for the first time in recent recorded history comes as no huge news. One main reason: There are relatively few solo women working successfully in country music today, just as has always been the case. To cite a few random years, in both 1950 and 1960, no women notched No. 1 country singles. In 1970, there were four female No. 1 songs (plus one by a duet with a woman member). In 1980, there were 10. In 1990, there were five, plus one group member. In 2000, there were three, plus one all-female group (the Dixie Chicks), and one duet member.

Nigel Lythgoe Talks Emmys: If American Idol Doesn’t Win This Year, It Never Will

TVLINE | I guess the eternal question is this: When is American Idol finally going to take home the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show Competition?
I wish I could answer that question! [Laughs] I will say that if we don’t get it this year, then I don’t believe we ever will. We were in everybody’s face for Season 10 and we got such good feedback that I would’ve thought if anyone is gonna win this year, it should be Idol, if I’m being totally honest. And I’m not one of these people who says, “Oh I’m happy just to be nominated.” No, I wanna win — no question about that. [Laughs]

Fox Hoping It Has the X Factor to Stay on Top (Analysis)

If Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly looked a bit more relaxed facing the nation’s television critics on Friday, it’s because he finally has two of his most dangerous weapons in pocket. He also seemed very confident that the mess that was Glee last year will be far more focused this season, and he’s very happy about his comedy development, joking that he’s said that before but this time it’s true.

Now all Reilly (and Fox) needs is for all of that to work out according to plan. Which it probably won’t. But he’s clearly got enough of an arsenal right now to make a very strong return dash to No. 1. Whether he gets there in a smooth or bumpy fashion remains to be seen.
