Carrie Underwood Takes Over Vegas For Her Bachelorette Party

Eyewitnesses tell Hollyscoop that Carrie and a group of her girlfriends were dancing the night away at LAVO at the Palazzo Hotel in Vegas.

Don’t get any ideas, Carrie didn’t have a cheesy bachelorette party with a lot of feathers and dildos on her head. Sources tell us that “she was very tamed and did not wanna attract any attention.”

Carrie was on her best behavior throughout the night. She was just having a great time dancing with her girlfriends.

Daytime Emmys go glam – Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell salutes Dick Clark

But the highlight of the night will likely be a special salute to Dick Clark in honor of his iconic “American Bandstand.” Hosted by Clark’s heir apparent, Ryan Seacrest, the tribute will feature appearances by Barry Manilow, Cher, Simon Cowell, Frankie Avalon, Marie Osmond, the Spinners and Garth Brooks, among others — that’s when the show is not handing out baubles to soap operas, cooking series, daytime talk shows and children’s animated programming.
Glam factor aside, the show’s historic shift to Vegas — no Emmy Awards telecast has ever taken place outside Los Angeles or New York — actually makes good financial sense for the franchise, says Lynn Leahey, editorial director of Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly.

(Daytime Emmy Awards air tonight on CBS @ 9 pm et/pt. The Ellen Degeneres Show is nominated for Best Talk Show)

Winning ‘Idol’ was the beginning, not the end for Lee DeWyze

Before auditioning for “American Idol” just over a year ago in his hometown of Chicago, Lee DeWyze was a local musician and daytime paint salesman who admits he “was probably one of the people that was like, ‘American Idol, ’ yeah, right, whatever … ”

He’s singing a different tune after being crowned the ninth season champ of “Idol” on May 26, with a Top 30 single — his cover of U2’s “Beautiful Day” — to go with it and a debut album expected this fall.

Fantasia gives free concert in Newark park to support school choice bill

NEWARK — After winning American Idol, starring on Broadway, and making a platinum album, soul singer Fantasia Barrino said one of her proudest accomplishments was getting her high school diploma.

“I take it with me everywhere I go, ” she said today before performing to a crowd of over a thousand at Newark’s Washington Park. “At the end of the day, I still need that education.”

Fantasia joined a roster of hip-hop stars including Kurtis Blow, Terrence J and Erick Sermon at the free concert held in support of the Opportunity Scholarship Act, a bill currently before the state legislature that would create a scholarship fund for kids in failing schools.

Adam Lambert brings glam-rock show to Borgata

ATLANTIC CITY — Glam rock is alive and well, and Adam Lambert is loving every campy, over-the-top second of it.

Hitting the stage dressed like a trippy circus ringmaster and singing his hit “Voodoo, ” Lambert, the Season 8 runner-up of “American Idol, ” kicked off the Atlantic City portion of his “Glam Nation” tour with a non-stop, one-hour set Saturday night at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.

The show, of course, brought out the expected, and sometimes rabid, Idol worshippers — the fans who scream at the first strum of the guitar for Lambert’s current radio hit “Whataya Want From Me.”

Jordin Sparks sees her career thriving

Platinum pop singer Jordin Sparks, the impossibly young Season 6 winner of American Idol three years ago, hasn’t even hit her 21st birthday.

But she is currently headlining a tour and will make her Broadway debut in August.

“It’s a different sort of pressure than when I was an opener, ” Sparks said.

In that role, leading off for the Jonas Brothers and Britney Spears, she just wanted to get noticed as she rushed through a 20-minute set. Now the Grammy-nominated singer has an hour to fill.
