Adam Lambert: Don’t Call It A Come Out

Here’s your Rolling Stone cover, America! While everyone with a voice box has been speculating as to how and when Adam Lambert would announce that he’s a gay, Glambert’s remained relatively mum on the subject — with the exception of a couple fire stoking statements.

But, like Allison Krauss sang, “You say it best when you say nothing at all.” So Adam continues to live his life — getting pedicures, going shopping and leaving clubs holding hands with dudes.

Yes, Adam made his tight-panted way out of Guys and Dolls nightclub in LA last night with his digits lovingly placed in rumored boyfriend Drake LaBry’s hand.

Ratings down, but ‘Idol’ still a top sales platform

When the final two contestants of season eight of “American Idol”-folksy singer/songwriter Kris Allen and zeitgeist-capturing vocalist Adam Lambert-faced off one last time, few predicted that the show’s season finale would end with a controversial upset. Not even the winner himself.

”The past couple of days have been crazy, ” says Allen, 23, who appeared as stunned as anyone when host Ryan Seacrest declared him the 2009 “American Idol” May 20. “Things have changed completely … now that I’m the ‘Idol’ winner, I have to go out and impress people.”

More Idol Headlines after the JUMP…

“Adam Lambert Performs For The Kids”

My friend “LT” works at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian (try saying that 10 times fast) and got a chance to see American Idol’s 2nd place winner Adam Lambert perform for the kids.

Although Kris won (who was actually here 2 days ago performing), Adam was by far my favorite.

He sang “Tears of a Clown” by the legendary Smokey Robinson, answered peoples questions, and signed autographs.

On top of that, he even visited each floor to see patients that were too sick to come down to the performance. He was so amazing with the kids and really friendly. I can’t wait for his CD to come out!

Lambert Dreams of Judas on Broadway

With all his popularity and presence, ‘American Idol’ runner-up Adam Lambert can take his career just about anywhere. His next stop? Maybe Broadway.

Lambert told the NY Daily News he’d one day love to perform in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’

“I’d love to play Judas, ” he said. “That’s my dream role.” As for ‘Idol’ winner Kris Allen, Lambert sees him right up on stage next to him.

“Kris, ” Lambert said, “he could play Jesus!”

19 Entertainment’s Orchestrated Reveal of Adam Lambert’s Sexuality

In every interview and TMZ ambush, Adam Lambert has played semi-coy about his sexuality. The American Idol runner up has never denied being gay, and everyone at the show knew his orientation, and the media all but confirmed where he stood after Queerty was blogging about it for the entire season. But Adam has never come out and said those two words: “I’m gay.” In the next issue of Rolling Stone, however, he’ll do just that. Why’d it take so long to acknowledge the obvious? Perhaps it’s because American Idol’s producers legally required him to stay mum.

Gallery: When Celebrities Wear Douchey T-Shirts

Yesterday, …American Idol alum and Tony Award Nominee Constantine Maroulis kicked off the Broadway Summer Softball League 55th season by singing the National Anthem. But according to his shirt, Maroulis was celebrating something else, too. He proudly donned a baseball-tee that read, …Hooray For Boobies. Um, ew? We have to give the famous Simon Cowell scowl to this shirt.

We thought the days of the message t-shirt were behind us. Alas, no. When we took a look around Celebuland, we noticed lots of other stars sporting ironic, obnoxious, and plain old WTF tees. Get ready to cringe.

Kelly Clarkson, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Shiloh To Play 2009 MMVAs

MuchMusic Video Awards performers: the show (the show!) would suck (would suck!) without you. Thankfully, MMVA organizers have made this year’s lineup grow four times more awesome this morning, with a new slate of performers including (the previously referenced) Kelly Clarkson and a three-pronged Can-Con assault featuring Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and Shiloh, added to the bill.

The lot of them will join previously announced performers Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers at the June 21 squee-fest/awards show in downtown Toronto.

Kelly Clarkson in Australia

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson visited with Aussie chat show host Rove yesterday. The pop singer is currently in Australia for a promotional tour for her new album, …All I Ever Wanted.

She starts the party off right by attacking a pià ±ata they have on set. Are pià ±atas different in Oz? We put candy in them and I didnt see the goodies spill out after she smashed his head off!

She discusses why she enjoys writing sad songs over happy songs, her Rescue Ranch in Texas, and all her pets.

Kelly Clarkson Talks About New Album

It’s been nearly seven years since Kelly Clarkson won American Idol in 2002 and her music career has had its share of ups and downs. But with her latest album “All I Ever Wanted, ” she’s proven she still has that something special that made America fall in love with her and made her the Idol.

Her fourth album spawned the hit songs “My Life will Suck Without You” and “I Do Not Hook Up, ” and overall has a more diverse sound, with pop, rock and dance songs.

The new sound is perhaps due to Clarkson working closely with new producers and songwriters including One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Howard Benson.

Daughtry Would Like To Be The One That Carried You (To The Record Store)

Id think that Chris Daughtry and his eponymous band would wait at least until the first-week SoundScans of their second album came in before they started casting themselves as Saviors Looming Over The Apocalyptic Yet Kind Of Clean Earth, but I suppose this is an era where one has to strike while the iron’or at least the promotional cycle afforded by appearances on the final episodes of American Idol’is at least a little lukewarm. (Of course, the CCD-indoctrinated part of me hopes that this cover was expressly designed for the purpose of allowing some genius with a lot of time and a computer to Photoshop-remix this with …Footprints.)

Idol castoff Michael Johns to release album

NEW YORK (Billboard) – While the American Idol post-season promo drive has kicked into gear for winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert, Season 7’s Michael Johns will be resurfacing this summer with his first post-Idol album.

Hold Back My Heart, due June 23 from TRP Records, is a 12-song set featuring six songs co-written by Johns and Dave Cobb. Diane Warren and British singer-songwriter James Morrison also contributed lyrics to the set.

Johns finished eighth in the 2008 edition of American Idol, but his early exit worked to his benefit. He went straight into the studio and started to lay down the tracks for what would become Hold Back My Heart.

Jim Harrington: Jordin Sparks joins the Oakland A’s

I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT I could write sports stories for this newspaper.

I’d pen totally unbiased columns about such fascinating topics as the Oakland Athletics having the best mascot (Stomper) in all of baseball and why the Golden State Warriors should draft a certain local music critic with a two-inch vertical leap. I’d also showcase my investigative reporting skills and uncover the whole conspiracy that has kept my beloved Chicago Blackhawks from winning a Stanley Cup for so long.

Shockingly, the editors want me to stay as far away from the sports department as possible. I know ‘ it doesn’t make sense to me, either.

I’ve found a loophole, though, and thus I’m using this column to preview an upcoming A’s game. The loophole’s name is Jordin Sparks, set to perform a post-game concert on Saturday at Oakland Coliseum.

The 19-year-old vocalist is best known as the 2007 “American Idol” champ, yet don’t hold that against her. She’s definitely a talented performer, and her platinum-selling eponymous debut spawned three Top 5 singles, including the Grammy-nominated “No Air.” Next month, she’ll release her sophomore effort, “Battlefield, ” the title track of which is already one of the year’s big hits.

Ex-‘Idol’ Finalist Nikki McKibbin Drove Son to School Drunk

She came in a narrow third on the debut season of “American Idol”, but it sounds as though life went on a big decline into the detrimental world of drugs and alcohol for Nikki McKibbin following her singing success.

“I was a horrible person when I drank. I was awful and really mean and really angry and I started fights with people for no reason, I was a bad mom and a bad wife, ” McKibbin told Tarts at the recent “American Idol” finale in Los Angeles. “I took care of my son when I was high and was driving to school drunk, I was just really bad off.”

Fortunately, McKibbin hit rock-bottom and realized she needed help so did what so many wannabe stars do and enrolled in Dr. Drew “Celebrity Rehab” last year.

‘American Idol’ 911 Tape — ‘She’s Bleeding’

We’ve just obtained the 911 call made after an “American Idol” stage manager was injured on the retracting stairs last month.

The caller says Debbie Williams fell “approximately ten feet” and onto her leg, was “bleeding” and may have broken her leg.

Turns out Debbie didn’t break it, but suffered a deep gash that required a bunch of stitches.

Critic’s Notebook: Susan Boyle, easy fame and mental health

News flash from across the pond: Becoming an overnight sensation can be hazardous to your health.

You would think the legacy of Princess Di would have left a more permanent imprint about the hazards of celebrity, but no. First 10-year-old Hollie Steele was flash-fried by the spotlight, then Susan Boyle, whose brush with fame literally put her in the hospital (or …in hospital as the English inexplicably put it).

Both were competitors in …Britain Got Talent, a nationally televised talent show designed to pluck virtuosos out of obscurity and launch them into the stratosphere of fame and fortune. Just as if that were a good thing. It was the template for …American Idol, except participants are not limited to singers and Simon Cowell, a judge on both shows, is much, much nicer. (Does he just hate Americans, do you think?)

Susan Boyle and Jon & Kate Gosselin are victims … and YOU’RE to blame

In the time it takes for most auditioners to hear the word “next, ” we anointed Susan Boyle our Next Big Thing.

But this weekend, when Boyle came in second place on “Britain Got Talent” and was subsequently rushed to the hospital, complaining of “exhaustion, ” she became the latest victim of a TV culture in which the biggest stars are still disposable.

With a warblingly heartfelt rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream, ” she transformed a wide world of would-be scoffers into the kind of fans who got a little misty whenever they mentioned the middle-aged songstress from Scotland, the kind of fans who viewed her audition video clip 200 million times.
