Adam Lambert – ‘I’m Not Trying To Outdo Freddie Mercury’ – What songs do you want to sing? And which ones don’t you? “We really haven’t gotten there yet, I just was emailing Brian a week or two ago and I was asking him, ‘What’s the setlist gonna be?’ It’s gonna be a team decision, obviously Brian and Roger are the boss, so whatever they wanna do I’m up for, I’m just happy to be there.” “I’m really excited to perform ‘Another One Bites The Dust, that’s one of my favourites. I’m interested to see if we’ll be doing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and whatever capacity it is, it’s quite a vocal undertaking with all the parts, so I don’t know if they’re gonna be other vocalists onstage or what. That’ll be pretty intense, to see how we approach that one.” – Read more at NME

Pia Toscano: Katsuya Stunner – Kicking off her weekend a bit early, Pia Toscano was spotted out to dinner at Katsuya restaurant in Los Angeles last night (February 23). The “American Idol” alum was all smiles and looked absolutely fantastic in a sleeveless red cocktail dress as she worked her magic for the paparazzi. See the Photos at Celebrity Gossip

‘Essence’ honors black women in Hollywood – The event also paid tribute to Whitney Houston, who died Feb. 11, by playing her music throughout lunch. Jordin Sparks, Houston’s co-star in the upcoming film Sparkle, remembered Houston before performing a song from the film: “She went from being this unreachable supernova pop star to my co-star to my friend.” – Read more at USA Today

Jordin Sparks On Whitney Houston: ‘She Was An Incredible Woman’ – “I don’t know how I’m gonna do in there. We’ll see,” Jordin told Access Hollywood on the red carpet before the event. “We’ll see what happens. If I choke up… “I’ll get it together,” she continued. “Have to try and keep it in.” “It definitely makes me very emotional,” she told Access. “I looked up to her and I sang her songs and then all of a sudden I was in a movie with her and I got to see her face-to-face, and she was so kind and she was so sweet. “I was already going to do it and sing a song from the movie and everything like that and then all recent events happened, and now I’m going to be singing a song that she actually sang, but is also in the movie, from the original, it’s called ‘Look Into Your Heart,’” – Read more at Access Hollywood

WWE stars, musician, actress lead anti-bullying rally at La Mirada’s Los Coyotes Middle School – LA MIRADA – A group of entertainers from the movie, music and wrestling world brought an anti-bullying message Thursday to Los Coyotes Middle School. Michael Gregory “The Miz” Mizanin and Diva Eve Marie Torres of World Wrestling Entertainment, rock musician James Durbin, an “American Idol” star and actress Rachel Cook spoke to about 650 students at the school. “Every day when I got to school, I was bullied all day,” he said. “I got to the point of where I was late to school every single day.” – Read more at Whittier Daily News

Theater Talkback: Betty Buckley on Why She Took on ‘American Idol’ – Since that exchange, the debate has continued in blogs and newspapers. And the popularity of “American Idol” means the discussion is still worth having. I think it’s important that young performers be encouraged — not discouraged — in their dreams to sing, whether on Broadway or in the pop arena, by a show that purports to celebrate great singing. The lines of demarcation about this style vs. that style of singing are not hard and fast. This is in truth a matter of “style,” and not the essence of what constitutes a great voice. – Read more at the New York Times
