‘Idol’ Reject — He’s an Eagle Scout Now!

Chris Cordeiro’s singing wasn’t up to par on “American Idol” this week, but his ability to tie a knot (or something like that) is apparently first rate — cause he just got his Eagle Scout badge.

Cordeiro’s rendition of “My Way” didn’t get him an invitation to Hollywood — “You scared everyone in the room, ” was Steven Tyler’s reaction — but this weekend in New Jersey, Cordeiro got his medal and badge … signifying he had achieved the highest rank possible in the Boy Scouts.

How many merit badges do you think Taylor Hicks has?

Children winners thanks to Senators

More than 800 partygoers were in a New York state of mind Saturday as they hit the Hilton Lac-Leamy for the Manhattan-themed Bell Sens Soiree in support of children’s charities.

There was a replica of the Statue of Liberty, quaint lampposts displaying some of The Big Apple’s most famous street names, and, in the ballroom, a Radio City Music Hall-style stage with backdrops of Broadway.

The Ottawa Senators’ PA announcer and event MC, Stuntman Stu, may have been impersonating Donald Trump but Carrie Underwood was the real thing in her designer Sam Edelman black pumps with sexy spikes covering the back of her shoes and heels. The Gram-my-winning country singer attended with her husband, Sens player Mike Fisher. They were later to dine at a group table with V-P Gary Cameron from major sponsor Bell. “Mike and Carrie are a wonderful couple and I’m thrilled they’ll be sitting with us tonight, ” said Cameron, who was planning to chat with them about the new home the pair has been building in the city’s west end.

Anoop Desai Blogs about his New Years resolutions.

Around Christmas, I emailed my close friends a list of tenets that I want to live 2011 by. These aren’t really resolutions– more a list of ideals I wrote down and found myself looking over today to remind myself what this new year is all about. A new town, for one. But along with that, a renewed outlook on things. So much of our daily lives are caught up in the mundane or in benchmarks of achievement that we sometimes forget how to make ourselves happy. Just thought I’d share my list with y’all as I did with my friends with the hope that maybe it will encourage you. I’m happy to say that I feel like I’m living up to most of these in my daily life and it feels great! Hope you get something out of it too!

Glee gone wild! The cast look worse for wear at Naya Rivera’s Las Vegas birthday bash
