Lee DeWyze on FOX Chicago

Via JoviWyze

“You’re the first person I’ve been able to talk about this to, so this is good!” He said. “On my end, it was simply a question, ‘Do you want to do the national anthem?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah!’ and the next thing I know there was a lot of talk about… people being superstitious and saying he (Cornelison) should sing this. For me, it didn’t reallty matter what I was singing, I was just happy to sing at the game. So, at the end of the day, he is going to do the national anthem and I’m going to do the halftime show, so it works out for both of us.”

Jim Cornelison on last few days: “It’s been nuts”

He hopes to get better by Sunday, when he’ll sing the “Star Spangled Banner” before the Bears and Green Bay Packers vie for the Halas Trophy, awarded to the winner of the NFC. After initially booking former American Idol winner Lee DeWyze, who is from Mount Prospect, the NFL deferred to the wishes of the Bears and the team’s fans and made a switch. Cornelison will sing the anthem again, while DeWyze performs at halftime.

“It’s about the fans, and they love the anthem when Jim does it, and this is the biggest championship game ever, so we want it to start right, ” said Bears spokesman Scott Hagel, “and we’re thrilled to have a hometown talent like Lee Dewyze perform at halftime.”

‘American Idol’ Exec Says ‘Legend’ Steven Tyler Will Be Good TV

When MTV News caught up with the reality show’s returning executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, we asked if he was worried about having to censor the Aerosmith frontman.

“Oh yes, [I have] every worry about that, ” Lythgoe readily admitted about Tyler’s sometimes-potty mouth. “But we’re on a delay, and he’s already done it. And then he forgets that he’s not allowed to say it, so he’ll say, ‘F—! Did I say f—? Oh f—. Sorry mate.’ ”

Simon Cowell Gets Candid with Oprah, Confesses He Was ‘Constantly Naughty’ as a Boy

“I’m not a master of anything, ” says Cowell. “I think what I’m good at is making shows or records which a lot of people will like for the same reasons I like them.”

He says he truly trusts his own instincts and when evaluating talent, doesn’t necessarily think of himself as a person running a record company or in charge of a TV show. “I just go, ‘I like this person.’ Or in many, many cases, ‘I don’t like this person.’ That’s when we have a problem. I’m normally right though, ” he says — cracking a smile.

Cowell reveals that he never had a proper education and quickly became bored with school subjects. “I was bored, constantly naughty, always doing things I shouldn’t be doing. And I never had a clue as to what I was going to do — other than I promised myself whatever I did do, I was going to have fun.”

Kara DioGuardi: ‘I Have a Take-No-Prisoners Mentality Now’

How Going Platinum will differ from American Idol.
“The main difference is while I can be critical at times and tell it like it is, I back it up by showing them exactly what they didn’t do right and how they can make it better. So it’s giving them advice and actually pinpointing where they went wrong so they can learn and the next time around be better for it.”

Fans can expect a stronger Kara at the judges’ table.
“I’m definitely more the person I am when I work with artists. I kind of give it to them straight. I have a bit more edge and a take-no-prisoners mentality now.”

Slash Refuses to Allow Guns N’ Roses Music on ‘Glee’

Slash has told Entertainment Weekly that he rejected a request from the producers of Glee to use Guns N’ Roses music in an episode of the series. His reasoning was pretty simple: He thinks the hit show is horrible.

“Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough, ” he told EW. “I look at Grease now and think, ‘Between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a work of art.'” So Slash is definitely not a fan of squeaky-clean singing teens.
