‘American Idol’: What’s Next For Emily Piriz? High School Graduation and a Move to L.A. – Piriz was in good spirits when she sat down with The Hollywood Reporter just minutes after being voted off the show. “I’m a lot more confident in myself,” she volunteered when asked how she had grown during her time on Idol. “I’m optimistic. I’m never going to be down on myself.” And what had she gained from the experience? “Friendships that I can keep for a lifetime. Phillip Phillips Talks New Single, Return to ‘American Idol’ Stage – Phillips didn’t mess up, despite the fact that “Raging Fire” is a brand-new song. “Derek [Fuhrmann], Todd [Clark] and I literally wrote that song a week and a half ago. Todd and I were working on a different idea. He had half of the first verse and we said let’s try something else. It wasn’t working out, so I said let’s go back to the original idea. I’m glad we did because I really like this song. We got it mixed and mastered in a few days. On a Tuesday, the label said they wanted to put it out the following Monday.” – Read more at THR

The Swon Brothers follow ‘Voice’ run with debut single – This time last year, almost no one had heard of Oklahoma natives The Swon Brothers. Blake Shelton added the harmonizing country singers to his team last March on Season 4 of “The Voice.” They went on to become finalists that season and since then have signed a record deal with Sony Music Nashville and even performed in Sochi during the Winter Olympics. The men notched another career milestone this week when more than 80 radio stations added their debut single “Later On” to playlists the first week it was available. Former Voice contestant raises awareness for HIV – A former contestant on NBC’s The Voice was on UT’s campus Thursday to raise awareness about HIV, and he’s spreading the message through the power of his voice. Jamar Rogers joined other East Tennessee celebrities Thursday in the Cox auditorium as part of the 2014 National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS.
