Idol Billboard Update for Issue 8/02/08

I haven’t done one of these in awhile Here is this week’s Idol Billboard Update. I post the chart every week, usually Thursday or Friday. You can find the link at the bottom of the purple header.

Worth noting:

  • Ace Young debuts on the Billboard 200 this week. His album Ace Young enters the chart at #160. He debuts on the Independent Album Chart at #20.
  • Chris Sligh’s single “Empty Me” becomes a Top 10 hit on the Hot Christian Adult Contemporary chart. It’s #12 this week on the Hot Christian Songs chart. “Empty Me” stalled for a bit, but it’s been climbing the charts again recently. Congrats Chris!
  • Jordin Spark’s single “One Step at a Time” rises from 52-39 on the Hot 100. It debuts on Hot 100 Airplay at #66, 28-23 on the Pop 100, 29-24 on the Pop 100 Airplay, 39-31 on Hot Digital Songs and 29-26 on Mainstream Top 40. Jordin may have another hit on her hands…
  • The Daughtry single, “What About Now” debuts on the Pop 100 Airplay chart at #69, it re-enters the Pop 100 chart at #94 and is #22 on the Hot Adult Top 40 chart.
  • Jennifer Hudson’s “Spotlight” is #2 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. She could enter the Hot 100 next week. She debuts at #75 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. It’s currently #20 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and Airplay charts. It debuts at #37 on the Hot Dance Club Play.
  • Speaking of which, Blake Lewis’s “How Many Words” is #11 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Now the question is: Which one of his re-mixes is charting?
  • David Cook’s Magic Rainbows er, I mean “The Time of My Life” is #5 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and #9 on the Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks. It’s hanging tough on the Hot 100 at #48, #45 on the Hot 100 Airplay, #48 on the Pop 100, #45 on the Pop 100 Airplay, #33 on the Mainstream Top 40, #52 on the Hot Digital Songs chart and #48 on Hot Digital Tracks.
