With 68.46% of reports in, Country act Florida Georgia Line is topping the chart. This band had cross-over success with their previous album when they re-mixed one of their singles with a Rap bridge. That album went on to sell 2.1M album, but “Anything Goes” will be their first chart topper. Nobody is anywhere close. They are expected to open with around 190K and this will be the third week in a row the main chart was headed by a country artist.
Last week, Jason Aldean was on top and this week he is number 2. The week prior, Blake Shelton was number one and The Voice judge is now way back in 15th. His previous album is at 48th. Bob Seger is rocking it out to debut at number 3. You+Me is a cross-border folk duo consisting of Canadian Dallas Green and American Alicia Moore (better known as P!nk). They are set to debut at 4th. Brit Sam Smith is 5th as he makes his case for BNA. Barbra Streisand is hardly a new artist (6 worth of number one records) and she is going strong at 6th – usually these albums start strong and fade fast. Game (American Hip-hop), Jessie J (Brit Pop), Milky Chance (German Folk), and Hozier (Irish Indie) are 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th to close out this international top 10.
The Swon Brothers from Blake’s team on the Voice are 22nd. They are expected to sell 10-12K which is consistent with sales from that franchise, but a little low considering they had a reasonable hit on Country radio. Judge Adam Levine’s Maroon Five’s V is 11th. NOW 51 and NOW 50 feature X-Factor UK artists (Cher Lloyd and One Direction) and are at 45th and 49th.
